I’ve heard amazing things about these Thayers Blemish Clearing Pads and had been eyeing them for a while. When I saw them for only five dollars on Black Friday, I added them to my order and thank God I did! These absolutely live up to the hype. I have extremely acne-prone skin and take my skincare very seriously. I had recently stopped using tretinoin for unrelated reasons, and since adding these pads into my routine, I’ve noticed a real decrease in my breakouts. My skin looks brighter, clearer, and overall healthier. The lemongrass gives these a bright citrus scent that I actually enjoy, even though I usually don’t like fragrance in skincare — but since it comes naturally from the lemongrass, it feels clean and refreshing. The pads themselves have the perfect level of texture for gentle exfoliation. I’ve tried blemish pads from other brands, and none compare. A lot of “textured” pads feel like they’re doing nothing, but these actually make my skin look brighter after just one use. They deep clean my pores, remove dirt and sweat, and help prevent breakouts thanks to the salicylic acid — all without leaving my skin sticky like some salicylic acid serums do. I think this is a great blemish pad! I’ve used others in the past (salicylic acid, antibiotic, etc.) to help with acne but my skin is too sensitive for most others. This one still has a slight burn when applying but calms down more quickly than others I’ve used. I would recommend avoiding applying around the nose/mouth as these areas tend to be more sensitive and the skin barrier breaks down more easily. There’s also an herbal smell - I didn’t really mind that much but others might. Overall, I’ve noticed an improvement to my skin texture and I like how affordable this is. 2% salicylic acid is the standard concentration for treating acne, enlarged pores without stripping or irritating skin. I have dry, mature, somewhat sensitive skin, with an oily t-zone and some enlarged pores. I use this one on my forehead and t-zone, and I like the results. My pores look smaller after I wash my face then use this, especially on my nose. The pads are a little scratchy for my semi-sensitive skin, so I dab rather than swipe. I have experienced no irritation or over stripping, but I use as and where needed. If you're new to chemical exfoliants, start slow and observe results. Daily is not always needed. My son dove headfirst into puberty and developed a moderate amount of acne. We started with plain witch hazel which kept it under control for a small amount of time. But a couple of months ago, our dermatologist recommending adding something with salicylic acid. He is on the autism spectrum and very scent sensitive. These pads have a lemony scent.
