We have two Labrador retrievers and they use these beds every day. I just bought a third bed; they're all in the same 40 x 25 size, brown with the plush top. The first bed has been in use for over two years and it is still in excellent shape. That bed is used constantly by one dog or the other; when the older dog gets up, the younger one sneaks onto it. I bought the second bed because the first is so good, and to upgrade from previous cheaper beds we've had. The younger female (4 yrs) sleeps on the second bed in our room at night, while the old man (9) sleeps either downstairs on the original bed (across from the wood stove) or upstairs on the carpeted floor (his choice). In the middle of a winter's night, when the wood stove starts to cool down, he will usually migrate. The third bed purchase was recently made to offer old Moose the same comfort when he comes upstairs at night. I suspect I will find him on it in the morning. Our dogs are fully grown Labs, 100 lbs each, and the 40 x 25 inch size bed seems to be plenty big for them - just big enough, like an adult on a twin bed. A bigger size might be more luxurious ... or a waste of floor space (my dogs are happy rescues, not pampered AKC show dogs). They always tend to have some appendage hanging off of any bed anyway. The size of the first bed was chosen to work in a congested location in our house, but since it works for our dogs we purchased the same size again. The foam is very supportive and has proven to be durable. I may have inadvertently stepped on it on occasion, and I'm not an AKC show dog either. It also retains body heat; the beds see somewhat less use during the hottest nights of the summer, when the dogs prefer to stretch out on the cool hardwood floors. The stiffness of the foam allows you to stand the bed on its edge for storage, vacuuming, etc. These are very comfortable, high-quality beds at a reasonable price. I highly recommended them. This bed came recommended by a couple of people with giant breed dogs, but it did not work out well for me. I purchased the XXXL 6 inch bed, it did not expand evenly and did not expand to its full potential of 6 inches. The ends were 3 inches and the middle got to 4.5 inches total. The solid 2” high density, orthopedic memory foam is the part that lacked expansion and the ends of the solid 4” base of high stability support foam. I let it sit on the floor in its cover without animals on it for 48 hours, I then removed the covers (both outside and waterproof) to see if it would help it expand-it did not. It does seem like it could have been a solid bed to a giant breed dog or multiple dogs, but the expansion never happened. It's very large and cumbersome to put the waterproof mattress on, but can be done by one person. Read more

We need a dog bed Griffin could fit on. He hung off all our other beds and cots. I got him the xxxl because with 5 GSDs, he will most likely have company on his bed. Griffin weighs 131 lbs and is all legs so this bed allows him to stretch out without falling off. I contacted the company after 24 hours because it was only 4.5 inches thick. They responded right away and explained it might take 48 hours to reach 6 inches. They were right. The 6 inches supports Griffins weight very well and he doesn’t hit the floor when laying in this. My dogs like this bed so much I ordered another one for my elbow dysphasia boy. I don’t mind paying for a quality bed. With 5 dogs, we have tried pillow and foam beds….which last about a year and cots….the cots last forever but as my pack ages they seem to gravitate towards something soft. This is the first foam bed that actually keeps them off the floor when they lay on it. The cover is very high quality and I expect to get many years of use out of it. Edit, I got another one for my old boy. The XXL fit him great! He is 100 lbs. I also bought a XL that was about 6 inches too short so that bed went to my old girl….she is a petite 65 lbs. I love how easy this bed is to wash. Very easy to take the cover off and put back on. Eventually I’ll get 2 more so each dog will have one. *edit*. I’ve had these beds (3 of them) for awhile now. They are so easy to clean, vacuum them off when needed or simply remove cover and wash. The cover is the easiest I’ve ever had to remove and put back on. A lot of thought went into the design. My dogs (5 of them) use these beds daily and the beds so no signs of wear. The cover is extremely durable and the bed itself is high quality! No sags, no sign of compression. It’s such a great bed we just got another one. Read more

This bed is indeed waterproof. The fabric on the bed I chose (gray with blue stripe) is very similar to coverings made for year-round outdoor sun deck cushions - so it doesn't "breathe" very well, and it gets hot too easily and quickly. Also, it's difficult for my senior dog to get enough traction to get up independently (it's kind of vynil-ish, but tougher and definitely more like fabric). The cushion itself underneath the cover is quite firm, and also seems to be coated in some type of plastic to make it waterproof, so it gets too hot for my dog to sleep comfortably overnight. This may work out to someone's benefit in a cooler climate, but here in Texas, it's just not a good combination. My dog shifted and panted all night trying to find a cooler/more comfortable position. I think this is a high quality bed, and it may be just what someone else needs. But it didn't work out for us as well as we had hoped. Read more
