Colorization fits in well with my HDTV. Soon I might get a 4K TV, an 8K high definition pixel TV is right around the corner, or may already be in the stores. So watching this Laurel & Hardy classic in color was a pleasing sensation. I know those who object to colorization of the old classic movies, nevertheless, I disagree with them. The Flying Deuces is a case in point. I've seen this movie in its original black & white version, and this color version. The color version stands out. The ones who added color did a magnificent job from the rose flowery dress to the ruby red lipstick. Someone should give them awards for putting more life and style into an old, legendary classic. It has been colorized, which should warn off those of us who remember viewing the original somewhere or other. It may be this treatment makes it more attractive to newer generations (what's black and white, Daddy?) but the warm subtlety of the original has gone missing in the digital re-treatment. If it must be processed this way, one can do it with better results, with a couple of extra steps. That, and paying attention to what the colorizing process is doing as the story unfolds. O well. The second star springs from my loyalty to the original. Read more
Cute, but not one of their best. It's great seeing some old, recognizable faces in there. I just loved their "Harvest Moon" routine, although it had nothing to do with the story. Read more
