Excellent weight, flawless construction, perfect blade alignment. Short, heavy handle allows for extreme angle changes with excellent control. When others say "put a sharp blade in it" they actually mean that this razor is rather mild, with a quite short, closed comb. That's exactly what's so awesome about this razor, it's forgiving and precise. It doesn't plow away 3 days of beard growth with one pass...but that doesn't matter because you can shave daily - or even twice in a day with thick lather. I have very sensitive skin with a thick, coarse beard and this is the first razor I have ever encountered that allows me to shave daily. This is an absolutely fantastic razor. Well made, excellent weight and balance. Due to the weight, it just takes getting the right angle and letting the razor do the work. Very little pressure is needed to take strokes which results in an efficient and irritation free shave. I used Personna Comfort Coat blades with Syntesi and it is a match made in heaven. The one and only somewhat negative remark I can mention is how heavy the handle is compared to the very elegant and minimalist head. Still, after one shave, It's manageable and with time, I'm sure won't matter. I've been shaving with straight razors and safety razors for nearly 30 years. My first razor was a EJ DE89 until it fell and broke. The second razor is an open comb so the following remarks are in comparison: 1. Build - this razor feels like a surgical tool, comfortable in the hand but with a heavy handle 2. The blade is held precisely in place, unlike my old razor. Tabs are covered. 3. Shaving - easy to find the right shaving angle. It's pretty quiet, which is like and it's very efficient: After one pass with the grain, the level of smoothness was very satisfying with no side effect 4. A special remark must be said about shaving under the nose and around the lips - very easy to get to and get the job done safely and smoothly 5. First impression: it feels cheap. It's light, like a Henson, but feels less substantial for some reason. Was doubtful going in and my first shave with it wasn't very good. Felt really inefficient and tuggy with my usual mild blade (Derby Premium). Second shave was a little better, started to get a feel for the cutting angle. Third shave I switched to a Feather blade and was immediately impressed. The angle is a little weird, but once I got used to it, and with the sharper blade, I now prefer this over my Henson and Merkur. Such a comfortable shave and super close with a Feather installed. Baby smooth with two passes, plus a little touch up. I would definitely put a sharp blade in it though. Read more
