This game turned out to be more fun than I was expecting, but it isn't at the level of other releases within the last few years like TMNT: Shredder's Revenge, Streets of Rage 4, or the tragically somewhat lesser known Fight N' Rage. You have four characters to choose from, Mr. Miyagi, Daniel, Ali, and Kumiko. You basically play through the original Karate Kid trilogy in a way. Like a loosely adapted, ridiculous(in a good way) version of it. If you've seen the movies you know that Ali and Kumiko never hit the mean streets of Southern Cali or Okinawa to bust heads. That just didn't happen. Here they are though, Ali, with cheerleading style attacks and Kumiko Bon Bon dancing through a high school gymnasium with her trusty handheld fans. What I'm trying to say is, do not expect a 1:1 recreation of the events of the film. Marvel as Mr. Miyagi walks off screen to let Daniel take on Sato, from Karate Kid Part II. Smile and laugh as Ali punches Mike Barnes in the mouth. It doesn't make any sense, but who cares? It's fun to play. Each of the four characters has their own unique moveset, including basic attacks, special attacks, combos and more. As you level up each character you unlock more abilities. I played through the entire game and some of the extra modes as Daniel, and also used Miyagi, Ali, and Kumiko for a while. Liked all four of them and will go back to play through as the remaining three at some point. The animations are nicely done. Combat is fun and responsive, but movement is a little on the slow side. Blocking/Parrying mechanic could be a bit better and I hope if they do another game like this they refine it. The mini games are mostly good, but you'll probably stick to playing through levels or maybe doing "Endless" challenges, which are basically cage matches that go on until you fall. I've given this game a four because 3 stars is a bit too low in my opinion. 3.5 or maybe 3.75 would be my rating otherwise. I say this as a long time fan of the Karate Kid franchise. I first saw Karate Kid Part 3 in a drive thru(yeah they existed), been a fan for decades. If you enjoy the movies(and Cobra Kai), and like side scrolling brawlers, maybe consider this when it's on sale. If you're not a major fan of Karate Kid(you should be, but ok....like drive thru theaters back in the day, you Karate Kid naysayers exist too), but like beat 'em ups, check out some of the other ones mentioned previously. The disk was not properly seated in its place, just like another reviewer said, also, the game manual was not included. Read more

The game worked thankfully, but it came rattling in the case like a pair of dice in someone's hand. Read more
No…no…no! The controls are not good and I don’t understand why more people haven’t spoken on this, they are not tight, it’s hard to line yourself up to an enemy it’s so loose. The crane mini game is trash. You can’t move while fighting turn from side to side. This and power rangers need to take note from streets of rage and tmnt:SR …. Read more
