Best tape you can buy (but be careful!)

Meagan PelayoSeptember 11, 2021✓ Verified purchase

I bought this after my PT recommended it to me. I’d tried other tapes that were okay. I was not impressed with the stuff until I tried this tape. It’s very elastic and does pretty much anything you want it to do. I use it to help with chronic ankle sprains and I love it. But, I’ve ended up using it for other things too and I consider this a staple in my medicine cabinet now. I wore the wrong sandals once and ended up with insane blisters on the bottom of my feet. I still had to work, so I had to figure out how to protect the blisters while also being able to walk. Bandaids will roll up and move around and make the blister worse. So, I ended up coating the blister in Vaseline and then using a few short strips on the tape to completely cover the area. It worked like a charm! The Vaseline protected the blister from the adhesive, but the stretch of the tape kept it tightly protected. Healed so fast! The adhesive is insane though. It lasts for 2 days through a shower. Once it’s been on your skin for about 30 minutes, the heat from your body like fuses it in place. It does NOT move. It doesn’t matter if you’re wearing socks and shoes. Doesn’t budge. That being said, be careful removing the tape!!! The first time I used this tape, I took it off the same way I took off other tapes, I just ripped it off. BAD IDEA WITH THIS TAPE!!! Do not just rip it off!!! I ended up with a GIANT blister covering about 3 square inches of skin because the adhesive is so strong that when I ripped the tape off, it separated the layers of skin. It was so painful. It was my own fault though, so I don’t blame the tape. Just be careful taking it off. Best way I’ve found is to take a shower and then when the tape is wet, start rolling is back. I basically roll it up adhesive side out and it comes of gently this way. My stupidity aside, I’d highly recommend this tape. It’s so worth the money. Read more

Sticks Great, Could be a Little Cheaper

Onyx WarOctober 4, 2021✓ Verified purchase

I used to use KT Extreme but it got to be very expensive since it only lasted 2-3 days before it became ineffective and peeled up too much. I can get 5-7 days with this tape before it starts to loose effectiveness and peels up beyond trimming. The only time it peels off early is when I’ve been walking in wet conditions and don’t dry off my feet within a couple hours or so, KT Extreme would peel immediately, even before I was done walking. I use this primarily for ankle & arch pain but will also use it on my ribs, wrist and knees if I’ve really pushed my body. It won’t provide a bunch of support like a brace will, so if that’s what you are looking for then get a brace. This provides a small amount of support but isn’t made for that purpose, it’s made to reduce swelling and inflammation by drawing the surface of your skin up a tiny bit. I tend to under pronate/supinate and I’ve found that applying the tape starting about 1.5” below my small toe on the bottom of foot, wrap it to the inside (using 50-70% stretch) up through the arch, behind my heel (about 10% stretch), back around to the other side and then bring it to meet the tape that’s near my arch works very well to slightly correct my gait. If I don’t wear the tape I push off of my last three toes which causes severe pain. At least with the tape I’m pushing off with the outside ball of my foot. It’s still not ideal but it’s enough that I do t have the pain. I generally use a piece that’s about 10.5-11” long and I would use 10” of KT for the same area. It doesn’t stretch as much as KT brand but it’s also a touch thicker, which I find preferable. I’ve tried Rock Tape but that was way too thick and caused corns to form on my heel, even when I only stretched it just enough for it to form around the back of my heel. It stuck longer and did have a lot of support but it wasn’t worth the trade off. I also couldn’t use Rock on any other part of my body without having issues when I removed it.my skin is pretty sensitive to adhesives. So far this one hasn’t given me any problems when I remove it, even when I’ve used it on a rib. KT Pro works fine for the rib area but I don’t bother with it anymore since I can use this one for both and the price is pretty close to even with the Pro version. Pro will not stay on my foot for more a day before it peels off completely. Just a little tip on peeling, in case you didn’t know…if an end starts peeling off when it’s wet you may be able to get it to stick back down while it dries. If not then just trim the end as close to the skin as possible. It won’t peel in a way that makes sharp ends, at least it never has for me, so I’ve never had it peel more due to straight edges. Make sure to cut a curve in the tape, otherwise that pointed end will catch on clothing and start to peel up early. The curve doesn’t need to be pretty l, it just needs to curve. It’s not for vanity, if you want it to look “cool” and follow the trend then just buy precut cheap stuff…although it seems like a waste. I have met people who just wear it because their “hero” sport star wears it, seems silly but there you have it. Overall I highly recommend this tape for its superior adhesive, that doesn’t bother my sensitive skin, and for it’s great pain relief. The stretch shapes are super helpful for those starting out, but as time goes on you won’t need them anymore. Read more

More hypoallergenic then rock tape for me. Also, easier to remove when it's time but stays on for 4 to 7 days. I bought it on a huge sale and got four rolls for the price of one rock tape roll. Highly recommend Read more

Concept of setting degree of stretch is excellent, Adhesion poor

Walter KreiderNovember 12, 2024✓ Verified purchase

I love the concept of being able to tell how much stretch you are exerting. I'm not trained in this, had to search the Internet to find info on how to use the stretch feature, but once I did it was helpful. The adhesive is very weak. I've rubbed it, warmed it, rounded the edges, done everything suggested but it's adhesion is poor. Often it doesn't stay on longer than a few hours to a day, depending on the joint usage. If they corrected the adhesive this world be a great product. Read more

Good quality, continuous roll

This tape has good adhesive, without being irritating. Normal stretch. Like that it is not cut, so you can cut as needed for different areas. Read more
