Best boot I’ve found out there for the buck so far

These are the best boots I’ve bought for my job. I work in lawncare and landscaping and have tried a plethora of different shoes/boots to get me through the year. They have all pooped out about 6 months in, whether it be the sole coming detached or holes developing in the sides by my pinky toes. These boots I bought about a year ago, and they’ve lasted forever. I walk miles and miles a day weedeating and walking around blowing properties off and the only thing that eventually gave about about a month ago were the heels. I’ll take that tho!!! Just got in my new pair and hope they last even longer. Super comfy and water proof. Good breathability for a 8” boot. I just tried to keep them clean with saddle soap and protected with mink oil on the leather. I’ve bragged on these thorogoods to a lot of people and hope they live up to my word again. It’s crazy that their Chinese made and still have this good of quality. I had “handmade” boots from a small USA company that only lasted about 7 months and were completely trashed by the end of their lifespan. Here’s to one more year of my monies worth! Read more

First Impressions are good

I bought these to replace my Danner’s for MC boots. Gonna ride in them today and I’ll update my review afterwards. First impressions - nice quality, comfortable, not to heavy on my feet, and fit true to size. I’m a 13W and boots in this size often run small. Over the years I’ve given away 1/2 dozen pairs of boots that simply would not break in. These seem comfortable right out of the box. Will report back on the waterproofing. Read more

great quality and super soft

I myself wanted something with more support but they are very squishy in the foot I added some supportive insoles and still they are soft and would work great on some patrol walks. I work part time security and my old boots were not the best. these are comfortable right out the box for me and can be worn unlike work boots like whites or nick or redwings that need some break in time. just wished they had some more supportive shaft like a military boot like a bates or Belleville or garment I personally like the belleville they hold up great and can kick the crap out of stuff and they hold up. I have not kick tested these yet because they are a great looking boot but when they start looking like the 3rd cousin from a trailer I am going to kick some stones or logs or horrible people (hopefully not) and will update on the durability because lets face it, you buy boots and want to know your hard earned money is not being place some some piece of junk that you have to replace in a very short time. It's Okay for the Price

I am a parcel delivery driver, so I am working in all conditions, and boots are important to me. A good pair of boots is like a good set of tools; they'll last a very long time if you do the work to take care of them. That said, I don't think these boots will last more than 2 or 3 years at best, but I would like to be proven wrong. First, the pros: The stitching and construction is very sturdy. I have no doubt the construction will hold up with little to no need for repairs on that end. The boots are lightweight, break in easily, and the waterproofing is better than many boots I've ran. The sole also feels very sturdy and has great tread, and I suspect it will last quite some time, even with a job like mine that requires many miles of walking, daily. If the upper survives long enough, I'm sure I will have them resoled by Thorogood, as this is a quality sole. Now, the cons: The shape is weird. They run true to size, but are wide around the calf and are tall in the foot area. To get the boot to fit better, I had to use a very thick insole to eat up vertical space in the boot, and I used longer laces, which I wrapped around the calf to tighten it there. The length and width are fine around the foot, but the vertical space is weird and I can't imagine needing the zipper on the boot except to rapidly put them on if you're an emergency responder that leaves them tied. My other big complaint is that they seem to be made of cheaper materials. I am fairly certain that these are using bicast leather, and the coating just can't stand up to the same standards of a full-grain leather boot. What would be a simple scuff on quality work boots creates tiny micro-tears on the outer layer of these boots, which will grow in time, even with a regimented routine of swapping boots daily, brushing after every wear, using cedar shoe trees, and cleaning/treating monthly. The interior lining is also pilling after only a few months of usage, so I worry about how long that will last as well. The verdict: These boots are very well crafted, but even the best craftmanship can only do so much with low-quality materials. All that said, the boots are less than $180, and you get what you pay for. If you're on a tight budget and need something to get by, these will do for light-duty work, but if you're looking for something to last a decade or more, I'd look elsewhere. Read more
