Okay... the first time I didn't read the directions and thought nope. But my plumber said it is the best for drain clogs. So I read the instructions and yeah! My hot water isn't that hot. I boiled 8 cups of water in my micro (you can use a pot of water) but micro is faster. When I removed the 8-cup bowl from the micro, I added a 4 cup of water to the micro. Then went to my bathroom sink and pored about 4-cups of HOT WATER down the drain. Then I added about 1/2 cup of Thrift. Then I slowly started to pour the hot water down the drain. My plumber did warn me to keep a mask on... and yes very advisable. This worked and I did pore 4-cups of boiling water down the drain again just to make sure there was no residual crude in the drain. My stopper has been cleaned, and the drain was clear. No back up. I will do this every month just to keep it working as it is supposed to. Great product. Dumped enough grocery store and home improvement products down the drain, never worked - - - I had plumbers come back twice a year. But I have a great plumber now in my small town and he was honest and truthful and told me about this product. It will save me on plumber services. Fumes don't expand/explode, but they do rise into the air. Better safe than sorry. Use a mask or cover your nose and mouth with a cloth. Read more

After purchasing this for the third time, I thought it was finally time to share the secret with everyone else. This has gotten me out of jams so many times now with stopped up sinks and most recently with a fully stopped up shower drain. After trying all the store brand drain cleaners and baking soda and vinegar, and using a drain snake, we still couldn’t get the shower to drain. We did 4 days of trial and error waiting on this to come in the mail and nothing else worked. As soon as we used literally less than one cup of thrift plus boiling water, the drain erupted with so much gunk boiling out and immediately the clog was gone. The shower drained so fast and we couldn’t believe it. Once again, saved a $200 plumber call with such a cheap and effective solution. One note - be careful not to breathe this in as the smell and air debris is pretty tough on your nose and throat. While pouring it in, stand as far back as possible and try not to breathe it in. If you have a mask, I’d advise wearing it if you plan to stay in the room while this drain cleaner is working. Overall incredible product that will forever have my loyalty! Read more

I previously bought the smaller container to try it out, and it worked really well. Because of that, I decided to purchase the larger size this time, and it was definitely worth it. The product does exactly what it’s supposed to do and the quality is solid. If you’re unsure, I recommend starting with the small one like I did, but once you see the results, the bigger container makes much more sense for the value Read more

I have a kitchen sink that I usually have to unclog about once a year. It's a long run from the sink to the main line and just at the limit of my snake length where it seems to clog. I was skeptical about it working but thought I'd give it a try. The most important thing to remember when using this product is not waiting till the obstruction gets so bad water doesn't flow. This product is heat activated and must be able to get to the clog. Once you start noticing slow running in the drain, get this stuff out. First run the hot water from the tap till it is coming out hot! Turn it off and pour the white flakes liberally into the drain. Turn the hot water back on to active the drain cleaner and send it down the pipe. If it can get to the clog it will remove it. I believe my clog is most likely grease from the dishes, pots and pans. It opened the drain right back up and took care of the slow running problem. Read more
