This is the best rice cooker I have ever encountered, and believe me when I say I’ve tried them all. Every grain comes out perfectly and there are no hotspots. Quality tends to suffer when you use a “Quick” option, but not for this one. Perfect rice within 20 minutes if you are making less than 3 cups. I like my rice on the dry side, meaning every single grain keeps its shape. This is difficult to achieve with typical rice cookers but this one does it perfectly because the heat distributes so evenly. I do 2 cups of medium grain jasmine rice and fill it with water up to 1.5. Perfect every single time. The only thing missing is a reheat option, but that’s less of a problem because the rice does not start to turn yellow until 12 hours in. I don’t have to worry about moving the cooked rice quickly to the fridge or folding the rice to distribute heat to preserve the quality. Read more

Having used Zojirushi for more than 20 years I was pleased to get the opportunity to try this one out. It's quite an amazing rice cooker. To be clear, if you are considering a rice cooker like this you should either eat a lot of rice of have a palette that can appreciate the quality of rice this will make for you. This rice cooker is a worthy adversary to the zojirushi. It cooks rice perfectly. It's super easy to use, you wash rice, and add the appropriate amount of water and hit cook. It has other program features for different types of rice which makes it foolproof. I also appreciate the timer where you can set it to make rice for later. I would highly reocmmend this rice cooker. I am a custom to using the a simple push down button rice cooker; however, I was impressed with the options this rice cooker offered. I used the long grain rice mode and my black beans and rice recipe turned out great. It was challenging at first to figure out all the options. There are many to choose from. I had to click several times to get the option that appealed to me. Even after reading the instructions thoroughly, I had a difficult time finding the mixed option and sweet option. The instructions are kind of vague. This could have been an operator error. Besides the trial and error, everything was great and I'm excited to try out some more recipes. Value for money is ok. A bit pricey for my taste, but you get a good product for the price. The pot and overall machine is sturdy and strong. Size is average to other rice cookers. I got the 5.5 cup. It fed my family of 7 with leftovers. No complaints. It will just need to take some getting used to. Read more

The shiny plastic finish is a fingerprint magnet and scratches easily if you use anything other than a soft microfiber cloth. A matte finish would have been more practical for daily use and maintenance. Cleaning is straightforward with a top gasket lid that pops out easily for thorough washing. The button design is impressive - they appear to float on top of the LCD display, giving it a modern, sleek appearance that feels premium. The controls are intuitive to operate, though the instruction manual could be clearer. The cooking tables for different dishes like plain rice porridge are somewhat confusing to follow. I found that adding slightly more water than the manual suggests produces fluffier and softer rice, so some experimentation may be needed. The induction heating technology delivers consistent results once you dial in your preferred water ratios. This rice cooker is a very nicely made, multi-functional kitchen appliance. We don’t have a lot of open countertop space, so its smaller footprint and convenient carrying handle… we keep ours in a cabinet when not in use. As lifelong Minute Rice users, this cooker is our first experience with making “special” rice. It’s a little strange to have to plan an hour ahead of time for rice prep, but I think we’ll get used to it. The materials and construction of this cooker are very nice, ranging from the fully coated interior cooking pot to the electronic display with its own battery that allows the clock to keep accurate time when the unit is unplugged. The cooking pot is easily removed for cleaning, and I found any remaining rice washed out immediately. Our first prep used Thai Jasmine rice, measured using the included plastic measuring cup. I washed the rice four times with cold water to remove excess starch. Different scales are printed on the interior of the cooking pot, so water can be added directly to the rice and measured against these scales. Cooking time (for our “premium” rice”) was an hour, which incorporates a pre-soaking incubation in the cooker. Once started, the cooker is quiet and the display counts down the time until ready. I appreciate the cooker’s default setting that keeps the rice warm automatically when the cooking cycle is completed. Our rice came out perfectly, and I was careful to give the rice a thorough stirring as soon as it was done cooking to prevent clumps. The supplied spatula and ladle are perfectly built and sized for the cooking pot. In all, the cooker is simple to use but offers an impressive range of cooking options.
