I expected the pads to be more hip shaped. They are not, they are flat, but flexible. You put the pads inside their included pouches, then insert the pads into the side pockets of the briefs. It's easier to do if you put them in before donning the shorts. The set will take him a bit of getting used to, though they are not overly uncomfortable.. he says they just feel a bit odd.
