TIMBER RIDGE 5 Person SUV Tent Weather Resistant Portable for Car SUV Van Camping Includes Rainfly and Storage

Me and my daughter bought this SUV tent for a mother/daughter girls getaway camping trip. We set the tent up before we left so we knew how much time it would take and to make sure it wasn't torn or had any defects. Everything was in perfect condition and is made with sturdy materials. We did struggle a bit putting it up when following the directions. The directions are very clear but it was awkward because the last step is to pull the elastic part up over the hatchback of the SUV. When we took it down we discovered it would be much easier to attach the elastic part first then assemble the rest, which we did this week when we actually went camping. The poles that hold up the tent are rugged and this tent is really easy to put together. It has a ton of room and has tons of head space. I am just under 5'7" and I couldn't touch the peak. It has mesh pockets built in to store a bunch of stuff. The bottom is partially attached to the back of the tent where it attaches to the SUV so nothing can get up under the car and into the tent. The elastic goes around the entire back of the SUV and is fastened with clips. It even comes with a projection screen which is great if you have a projector on your phone. My daughter slept in the back of her SUV and I slept on a cot. We had three dogs with us, a dog bed, duffle bags, coolers etc. and had more than enough room for all of us and be able to move around. Great product. Very sturdy and held up well in the wind. Lots of room and handy storage. Instructions are a little unclear but I was eventually able to figure it out. Able to set it up alone by myself. Definitely suggest a trial practice run before using the first time. Read more

Well made. Fits my 21 RAV4 very well. Would fit a larger vehicle but not sure how much bigger. Mini van for sure. My setup is a sm suv, rooftop tent, kitchen in back where the hatch is. My dog rides in the back seat. It is cool to have access to my fridge and clothes etc from my living room. (The tent). Privacy for changing clothes, a sponge bath, portapotti etc. I like it, would buy again. Room for 2 large cots with room to spare, if I have company on my trip. Was so great. It stayed strong for all three of the kids cots in it with a little area for our potty too. Set up was easy and felt very sturdy attached to the van. We used a small heater to keep the heat in worked great. Should have cleaned car and sunroof before use but we improvised suction cups not sticking due to dirt and tied them off the roof rack. As a seasoned camper, I found this relatively easy enough to assemble alone; two makes it even quicker. Nice quality, appropriately priced. My review is based on initial unboxing without using it in the field yet. I am only rating EXPECTED durability based on past tents I've used and this unit's materials. DEFINITELY do a practice setup, and at that time, get a few bottles of seam sealant to treat the outsides of the threads on the seams. Although nicely sewn, and sealed on the inside, the outsides of the seams can use protection too.... Get a few bottles -- it's a big tent. Nice features: -- I like the entry port for running power into the tent, allowing all zippers to remain closed. -- It appears there is a (heat resistant?) mesh buffer layer sewn onto the exterior of the portal where contact with still-hot exhaust pipes is possible. -- Projection screen is a nice additional thought, it can be mounted on passenger side wall, or on the rear wall. -- I like the feature of having locking pins attached to the tent corners for fastening the poles. No grommets to try to force a pin on a pole to match and stay in. The power entry port and heat resistant mesh are related: DO NOT RUN YOUR VEHICLE WHILE USING ANY TENT! Excellent tent. Instructions weren't the greatest but easy enough to figure out. Roomy and stayed dry on a rainy night. We love having a screen for a projector. It will need to be ironed out though. Read more

This tent was very easy to assemble and fit my car perfectly. The overall quality was good, but the floor could be made of a stronger material. That being said, if you have a tarp or mat to put it on it should last for a while. The zipper worked great very smooth. Read more

I bought this tent for camping and opened it directly at the campsite. My mistake. Though it is pretty sturdy and easy to assemble. It is NOT A 5 Person tent. We were 4 people and a kid and there was a barely place for the 4th person's sleeping bag. Luckily, we had an SUV we could sleep in and put in our luggage. Also, you need at least 3 people to assemble it. It has nice windows for ventilation and a small hook on the top for attaching a light/fan. I would recommend buying a tarp beneath it as the entire tent is made up of the same single-layer polyester fabric and it gives a cold/wet feeling on the bottom floor. Read more
