Perfect beach umbrella. The built-in "drill" feature on the umbrella stake coupled with the fold down "drilling" handles made this attractive umbrella the tops on the beach. Specifically the bottom stake has a drill end and handles that unfold from the stake. You drill the stake into the sand and voila you have an extremely well anchored stake. The umbrella portion slides easily into the bottom stake and has a tilt feature that allows you to tilt the umbrella to meet your needs. When the wind picked up with an approaching storm I saw people struggle with the "push-in" stakes for umbrellas and canopies. My umbrella never pulled out nor did it buckle. In fact we stayed on the beach under the umbrella as the storm came and passed. A unique experience. Aside from its structural integrity and ease of use it was very attractive. Great colors. I am not easily impressed but I was very pleased with this purchase. Also GREAT price for the product. Thanks Tommy Bahama and Amazon. Read more

Nice carrying sack. Umbrella is large enough for two 3'x6' towels to be mostly covered under it. The anchor / lever mechanism works great. Water repellent and will "shake-dry" with a couple of good shakes. We took this to the DelMarVa peninsula in July for two days at the beach, Set up was easy. Dug an 18" hole for the spike, set it in place, twist the handles, and then move the sand back in to fill the hole. No issues with wind knocking it over. We had rain on one of the days and it worked very well. Nice and opaque so it blocks the sun nicely. Vents are good to allow for airflow without "lift-off". The last time we used an umbrella, it was a fairly inexpensive model (not TB), and a lifeguard on the same beach as above was digging us a new hole for it as it flew off within minutes while we were in the water. There was no difference in the wind compared to the experience with the TB umbrella. We noticed it was a fairly popular model as well since there were three others just like it on the beach as well. Won't have to buy another one - unless this falls apart by the next time we get to use it. Read more

Earlier in the year while vacationing in Grand Cayman, our condo owner left a Tommy Bahama umbrella in the unit for us to use for our trip. We liked it so much that when we were shopping for our own umbrella for a beach trip to Florida, this brand came to mind. We got the umbrella quickly (even though notifications said it was going to be late. Weird). It has a handy carrying case and it's fairly easy to setup and use. We got to Florida and it held up great! There was one day winds were blowing about 20mph and we had to take it down. Even the rental companies set up on the beach scurried to close all their umbrellas. But overall on an average day, the umbrella was perfect. Provided great shade, easy to setup, adjust the tilt and easy to pack back up when we left. I would recommend this umbrella to anyone for casual use at the beach! Read more

This umbrella is great and kept us cool while we were in the OBX this summer. The tilt function is nice and makes it easy to angle the umbrella when needed. The sand screw at the base makes it easy to twist this thing into the sand, only takes about 30 seconds and it requires very little force. I found the umbrella stayed in place pretty well most of the time. It held up in pretty heavy wind. It only flew out once the whole trip and that was due to me angling it against a very heavy wind. The two piece design and carrying case work very well and make it easy to transport. It is also light to carry. Read more

I did not want to pay $30 a day for chairs and an umbrella at the beach, but my husband also did not want to lug around a bulky, heavy umbrella. I searched around and actually saw this umbrella on display at Costco, but by the time I made up my mind to buy it, they were out of stock. This is a great umbrella. Lightweight and easy to transport. It was also easy to screw into the sand, and then even easier once we realized the handles fold down for better range of motion. There was one REALLY windy day that the umbrella moved around a little bit, but even the large rental umbrellas moved around and folded up. It provided enough shade for two adults in chairs. Would recommend a larger size if more than two adults will be sitting under it. We saved a ton of money and already my husband is talking about bringing it to the lake, where there is a sandy beach. Great umbrella! Used it for a week at the beach this summer. It's not the most robust umbrella out there. The shafts are made of thin aluminum and the rest is plastic. Even the spokes are plastic. But for the price it holds up really well and I predict it lasting many years. Just use common sense and don't try to use it if the wind is too heavy. And certainly don't tilt it if it's windy.
