I've seen some reviews here saying this lighter doesn't work, and that's what I found too—until I figured out the trick! Sharing here in my review in hopes that it's helpful for someone else. If you've got it filled with butane, and you're clicking and clicking and nothing happens: *** Hold it upside down for a few seconds *** This seems to get the butane into a spot where it's more available to the ignition. Then, make sure the flame strength dial is set to about the middle (not all the way to the + or the - end). Within a couple clicks of the ignition switch, it should start up. Once I figured that out I got it working pretty consistently. Also, be aware that it's a blue jet flame, not an orange candle-like flame you get with the disposable lighters. It can be a little hard to see out in full daylight, so start by testing it in the shade or indoors so you can get a feel for what you're looking for when it's lit. The design is neat, it's nice and small, although it does look a bit like a vape pen when the extendable tube is closed :) So, 4 stars for it working pretty consistently; being nice and easy to fill; the extendable tube is a neat feature; and the safety switch, which a lot of lighters don't seem to have. Minus one for how you have to hold it upside down first (maybe that's endemic to all lighters like this?), and it doesn't seem to like working on any setting besides that medium level. Which, you don't really need it any higher if you're using it to light a campfire or a camp stove, but it would be cool to have the option. Read more

Excellent torch ease of use and price. This is an excellent replacement for my Soto torch which Amazon no longer has in its inventory. I was skeptical at first uses but, it functions just as well if not better than the Soto, which I still have as well. I like this one much better because of easy and safety of the lighter. Don't get me wrong both lighters have wind issues that you have to take into consideration when using. This lighter is much less expensive that my Soto, but both are good, but I lean more towards this one. Read more
