Quality flat top PAR30

Flat top bulbs are the way to go. They give a nicer light because they don’t scattered the light like a round top. You can get that impression from the one picture above. A round top in the same picture- the black baffle is not visible as it’s blurred out by the scattered light . The point is the flat top gives a nicer light and it’s not glaring in your eyes. I don’t know why flat tops are so hard to find.... not at HD or Lowe’s in my search. This is a beautiful product it comes nicely packed with minimal waste packaging as you can see. I will be looking at their line to order other bulbs as I need. I went with the 300OK which is just a little cooler than the 2700 that I have used in the past for LEDs to better imitate incandescent. The bulbs now have a higher CRI giving a clear and better light. The 3000 K gives a truer color although still on the warm side, and I think the trend eventually will be towards truer light color as everyone switches away from incandescent and halogens. Halogens were once the epitome for true clear light. They do use power and when dimming to low light they go more into the warm spectrum which can be nice and it’s what were used to, but times are changing. With theses LEDs the colors remain true even at low settings, they use very little power so they stay on longer - all the time in that back hallway. There should be no longer such a thing as a dark house, or a dark corner, or a dark hallway. Just put in more recessed lighting and get these PAR 30 flat tops. ( didn’t intend to promote - just pass on information and my experience) /jwg Read more

Excellent replacement for 39 watt halogen PAR30L ceiling bulbs

Got the 3000K lights to replace Sylvania Halogens (39watt 2900 K) that were beginning to burn out in a group of kitchen ceiling lights. These lights were the closest I could find to the color temperature and beam width of the halogens. The color is a little whiter but we like it. If you mix this with 2900K bulbs in your ceiling you will probably notice the difference. They look good when lit but have more light concentrated in the center as opposed to the halogens which are more even. There is no difference in the beam width or appearance though. Their size is nearly identical in length and width to the halogens. These are PAR30L which are longer than traditional PAR30. They are about 4.25 inches long and fit my ceiling cans with a little room for air flow around the bulb. These do dim but as I find with most LEDs the dimming is not as smooth or as dim as with the halogens. They dim well enough to be acceptable to me. At 12 watts a bulb I am using 162 fewer watts with all six bulbs lit. These bulbs now cost half the price per bulb than a name brand halogen and save money immediately in operation. I am very pleased with these lights. If their life span holds up as promised then there is little reason to stay with a halogen bulb. Read more

Works great

These are great bulbs and very bright. No problems. Pretty sure you need a dimmer that supports LED bulbs to prevent flickering. Mine work great. I’ve switched out my regular bulbs to these over a year ago, no problems. Will be purchasing again for other rooms. Read more

Wonderful while they light

I have purchased this bulb & brand multiple times. If one believes life expectancy advertised on this bulb, I should not have. Reality is like most LED products they do not last. On a positive note these bulbs provide true-to-life color meaning they have excellent color rendition. I prefer 5000 Kelvin bulbs and these do not disappoint, offering bright daylight output. If one overlooks the limited life, say 2000 hours, Torchstar is a quality LED contender Read more

Bulbs fit recessed light cans

This is a great LED bulb that goes into celling light cans. They do not create a lot heat like the old style bulbs. I purchuse 5000K bulbs because the put out a lot of "real" light unlike the 3000K which are soft lights. Read more

Par30 Dimmable LED Lights Are Bright and a Perfect Length

Our kitchen has five recessed lighting cans. For the last 33 years, we have used BD30 65 watt incandescent bulbs as a light source. These bulbs were 5 inches long, coming down below ceiling level. They also got very warm during operation. I was delighted to find these Par30 bulbs which are about 4.3 inches long, and project light from a flat surface. These bulbs are flush with the surface of the ceiling, and look much better than the incandescent bulbs they replaced. It is difficult to find long-necked recessed lighting bulbs that are less than 4.5 inches long, and in our kitchen any bulb longer than 4.5 inches would come down below ceiling level. They use only 12 watts of electricity per bulb, and each bulb produces 840 lumens of light. Our kitchen is very well illuminated and these bulbs do not get very warm while in use. The light produced is a warm light at 3000K, and the bulbs come on at full brightness immediately. The bulbs are connected to a dimmer switch, and the lowest light level is about 20% of the maximum level. In summary, after about two weeks of use, we can not comment on how long the bulbs last, but we are very pleased with what we have seen so far. Read more
