I wear an open face helmet when I ride my motorcycle. This hood serves a number of purposes for me. First, it helps hold my helmet in place a little better. Also the side flaps help minimize road noise while keeping me ears warm. And finally the face mask protects the lower portion of my face, from the nose down. I put on the hood and adjust the sides and mask. Then I put on my eye protection and finally my helmet. The only minor issue I have is the mask is a little too tight across my nose. But because it greatly reduces the force of the wind hitting my face, it makes it much easier to breath normally while riding at highway speeds. Well worth the money. Review update 08/20/2020: I decided to upgrade my riding gear to a full face modular helmet. So while I no longer need this hood to help cover my face, it now serves a new role. I put this on before I put on my helmet, and then pull the mask up over my mouth and nose. I snug up the helmet strap and then pull the mask down under my chin before I close the helmet. Now, as a result of the mask society we have become, if I go into a store for example, I just pull the front of my helmet up, pull up the mask to cover my nose and mouth and go about my business. DTS -12112016 Hello, RE: Review of 2-in-1 Fleece Hat With Black Face Mask - Great For Tactical 35F - 60F This was actually unexpected. Given its look and feel created much doubt in the item. However, during this down season it has yet left my back-pocket since its arrival except to wear it. If it had any more tactical look and feel it would be well -- tactical. The confortable feel was too a surprise. The face mask drops down like any other, but its light-weight and still blocks the wind. In fact, it will keep heat from escaping through top of head and ears if it's adjusted right all the way around, to the back of ones head. However, I do think the face- mask should be 2 inches longer, to mesh the collar area. I figure it will break at temperatures below freezing and it's really unnecessary to wear above 60F ( just far too much heat.) I had no problems with the fleece hat portion. I tuck the face-mask inside, to the inside top of the hat wearing it like so. I'm looking forward to testing the item with a bald head, but at this point having yet to fail probably concludes that, I shouldn't expect the item to fail.
