Customers find the lapping fluid works well with diamond hones and performs better than conventional oil.

First off the BAD. Rec bottle with loose cap and roughly 1/8 of product had leaked out. The provided cap/applicator allows product to leak out uncontrollably when you only need a small amount. Product also smells heavily of Petroleum. Now for the GREAT. I purchased this product to help protect my diamomd sharpening stones from rust/corrosion. It does this and then some. Previously I would use krud cutter or just water and dish soap as a cleaner/lubricant which from what I could tell worked but caused discoloration. Now that I've used Trend I now know what my diamomd stones really can do. My diamond stones cut MUCH faster, more consistently and they look NEW when iam done. I even used on older existing diamomd stones and Trend brought them back to almost new. Even improved their cutting ability. I will NEVER use anything else on diamomd stones but STRONGLY rec swapping out the container for something more consistent and distributes product more precisely. Will purchase again in hopes I rec a full bottle next time. Read more
I have a number of diamond sharpening stones, and I used to just sharpen dry, but always had issues with metal dust building up on the plates when sharpening. I now use this lapping fluid for all my sharpening and flattening needs - kitchen knives, hand plane blades, chisels, as well as flatting the soles and sides of smaller hand planes. A little bit goes a long way, just a couple drops is typically all that is needed for sharpening. I also always wipe off the slag when I'm done so that it doesn't dry and clog on the diamond stones. The fluid is definitely expensive though, and honestly not the greatest value, but it does work, and works well. As long as you are careful not to waste it, even the small bottle will last a long while, depending on your sharpening needs. Read more
I’m new to diamond stones as well as their lubricants, so I went looking for info. Water good or bad (rust). Water with soap added or a soap thinned with water. Oil or no oil? There are multiple concerns about water, the ability to completely dry your diamond stone and rust. Various oils come with concerns about their molecular thickness because of the size of the diamonds, how much if them is embedded by nickel. Your lubricant can be thick enough to fill the pours of your stone causing whatever your sharpening to float over the diamonds reducing the cutting action. Krud Kutter was highly recommended by one source for being inexpensive, the ideal lubricant, great diamond stone cleaner and rust remover. As I attempt to read between the lines I began to suspect the danger of rust from water might be a bit of a scare tactic. Krud Kutter seemed tempting and this Trend lubricant is the only product specifically manufactured for diamond stone use. Going on the assumption that a little goes a long way this Trend product seems to be the safest choice. As for the cost, I’m not aware of anyone giving away quality diamond stones for free so I’ll protect my investment with this Trend product. As I gain experience I will re-evaluate the need to update my 4 stars. One star deducted because cap was unscrewing itself and leaked as many others have stated (what the hell?). I’m lucky as it appears that not much leaked so I will keep. Read more

Not quite sure what this fluid actually does but I guess it provides some sort of lubrication when sharpening. Feels like it is some sort of oil. Overall it seems to work well. Read more
I tried saving money by going with the smith's honing solution, sadly it does not compare to this. The Trend lapping fluid works so much better. A little bit goes a long way, cuts quicker, cleans easier and the edge I get is amazing. This is my 5th order. Read more
