I cannot truly give any stars based on how the foundation wears because I was not able to apply it due to the color. I was hopeful the fair with neutral would work on my cool toned skin, but I could tell from the bottle it was way too warm. I put a little on my wrist and yep, it was definitely too warm/dark. I was fortunate enough to guess pretty accurately on the correct tone for my skin, it might be slightly orangey for me, but hopefully not enough to be a problem, I don't think. It does go on light, and the coverage is adequate, although it reminded me why I had switched to powder foundation in the last few years, because when I applied it under my eyes, it just made them look worse, not better. I know a couple of people mentioned a paint like smell, but I have a pretty sensitive nose and at least with my batch, I detected no particular scent at all. So that's good. I did not find it at all hydrating, nor did it leave me looking in any way "dewey" or "glowing" or "luminescent". Oy. On the other hand, after wearing it for an evening I can also say that I did not feel dried out by it, either. However, and especially for this price point, I found the packaging rather shocking. The bottle was not in any way sealed, which is no more than you would expect from an everyday bottle of vitamins; and for the lid to have that sponge applicator as a means of taking out the foundation, that is just so unhygienic! I just set it to one side, hoping that it would not dry out while I was applying my foundation, and then just gently tapped the bottle the old-fashioned way to get some to come out onto my fingertips, and then applied it that way. Perhaps there is something in the ingredients of this foundation that somehow ultimately makes it superior, but frankly, I think you could do just as well with something from the drugstore for a fraction of the cost. I learned the trick years ago of applying some liquid foundation to the eyelids before applying your eye makeup to set your eyeshadow, and it did work very well for that, so I will continue to use this bottle until it is used up, but I won't be buying any more after the after that. At first, I thought I was not going to like this... It almost seemed a bit too dark and not enough moisture in the formula. But, when I was finished applying the product I loved the finished results. My skin just looked great. I didn't look overly "made-up", my skin just looked better. The price on this is high, so I was wondering if it would meet expectations. I used to work for Clinique and Aveda and have had opportunities to try lots of prestige brands thanks to colleagues who worked for competing brands. This was a really good foundation. For reference, I chose 3FN and I usually wear NW20 in MAC. Also, my skin is 54 years old and it is fragrance free but it does have a on-added aroma that slightly smells like paint. Not awesome, but I've smelled the same aroma in many foundations that don't add fragrance (to hide the paint smell). I would absolutely recommend!!!! ~Amy Read more
