When it comes to these TUFFY dog toys, I've bought over a dozen and every single one is five stars. I feel like the only thing you really need to consider with TUFFY toys is which animal you think is the cutest. Because, otherwise, they're just all really great toys with multiple squeakers, the best durability of any soft dog toy I've purchased (and I've purchase A LOT - we have v spoiled dogs lol), and have had multiple dogs that become really attached to them, using them as not just chew toys but also kind of their pillow and friend-toy to drag around wherever they go. These two toys have been no exception in terms of my puppy's love for them. If you want a long-lasting soft toy for an aggressive chewer, I strongly recommend just about any TUFFY brand toy. Great for puppies! We bought this for our 2-3 month german shepherd puppy. He absolutely loves it and it's one of his favorite toys. We like to spin this octopus around on his head so his legs fly around and our puppy loves to chase it. The toy has held up really well against our puppy's razor sharp teeth -- only a few little tears of the purple fabric, but not bad. There are a lot of loose threads though from our puppy's teeth cutting the purple thread, but we just cut those off if we can and he can't grab the thread anyway because it's too thin. All the squeakers still work a month later. I would definitely buy this toy again and another one in the same series. Read more

If your dog is like mine and is super gentle with toys, they might not like this one because its not very soft and squishy. This was rejected by my dog because it was too tough, so I gave this as a gift to my fired and she had the same results as most other people - if you have a very destructive or energetic dog, they will chew through the head first, have an absolute blast pulling all the fluff (an oh how much fluff they fit in there!) and then destroying the rest of the octopus one leg at a time. That being said, compared to most dog toys, this thing is super tough, and even though it won't look like it did when you bought it, it will last longer than most dog toys. Read more

Within 5 minutes of play time, dog’s tooth punctured a hole. Customer service through Tuffy states products must be “resellable” for refund. Their email response included “educational” style comment stating dog toys are not meant to be chewed on, rather “interactive” play, such a tug of war, fetch, etc. Umm, that’s what we were doing… playing together with “the world’s toughest toy”. They are however willing to send me a toy from their “best-selling list” in exchange for my trouble. Never mind we’re out the money spent initially, but thanks! I’ll take another toy for it to also be trash can ready in no doubt the same timeframe! Ugh! Read more

Our dog is a very aggressive toy chewer/mauler of toys, but hates the rubber kongs and tennis balls, and any other stuffed toy didn't stand a chance. She absolutely loves these toys! Yes, she will chew on it with the sole goal to get the squeakers out and sometimes she can break through the stitching in less than an hour, but we allow her to since she's 13 years old and does not eat the stuffing. These toys are built to last if you do not allow your dog to chew on it consistently and for a long time (as the instructions imply for proper use). We have some that have lasted a year+ and are semi in-tact (ie. The turkey and the dragon are both headless now, but the rest of them are seemingly untouched.) The shark is her favorite even though there is only a scrap of the tail left and unrecognizable. She plays with them down to the last shred of a scrap and if we try to throw it away, she digs it back out of the trash. These are the only toys we buy now as they last way longer than anything else and the shear strength is impeccable. We can lift our 75lb dog in the air playing tug-a-war with the toy without the seems ripping. Read more

I ordered this after reading other reviews and my dogs did just what I expected. They ripped the head off Lil Oscar within 30 minutes and the family room floor was filled with stuffing. I have two super chewers who have been playing with this toy every day since I purchased it. They totally destroyed the head but the legs have held up so far. They play tug-a-war with it and have a great time. It's been three weeks and so far all of the squeakers in the legs still work and the legs are holding up. Was really trying to decide whether or not to give it 3 or 4 stars. Went with 4 because the legs are still holding up, the dogs love it and play with it a lot. Read more

I have 2 large breed dogs one of whom is in the destructive (toys) adolescent phase: my lil crackhead takes joy in sneaking off & destroying toys (then being upset toy is “dead”). In my house currently toys don’t survive longer than an hour at most. I don’t have an income that can support buying 8-12 toys a day. Displaced from my home due to severe chronic crime, this Gotcha Day was celebrated from the kind couches of others in an area where shopping options are severely limited. I ordered this to replace the small version have had since 2009 but is in my house that is currently inaccessible. This one is substantially bigger - I’m so glad I didn’t go for the mega large (tho it looked cooler). This is a large heavy beast. Stitched extremely well. The appendages are very stiff. It’s constructed very well. The weight is a drawback in my house - they will not play with this. They like to play tug and signature move solo is to shake. It’s so heavy my dogs tend to pull it out, remember how heavy &cumbersome this is, that it’s work to play with, then ditch it for a much lighter (& easy to destroy) toy. So far this has just beena big purple speed hump sitting dejectedly in the shadows in the hall. Read more
