Normally I take L in underwear, but my measurements aligned with XL. I ordered the XL and it is fine. The leg openings are a little snug, but an XXL would not have given me the compression I wanted. I was more interested in lower back support than tummy support, but I’m happy with that, too! The 4 is because of the leg openings. I wear regular underwear underneath. It fits my large thighs comfortably and does not create a bulge on my back. All day comfort for 8hrs work mostly seated job, it helped my posture, flattened my fupa. I also washed it in the washer on the delicate cycle and put it in the dryer every night for 5 days, it did not shrink or tear no stitching unraveling.
