I am a crazy lover of tropical fish and tried to find a smart home equipment which can help me feed my fish better. This new product named of ubibot SP1 allow me to connect an external probe to monitor my tank’s temperature. When temp drop below 65F, the switch will turn on my heating rod. It also can help me step a daily loop of circulation pump. Easy setup and use. Clear App instruction. If the price of this product can be less than 50 bucks, I will have a few more for my tanks. ETA #2: This has now completely broken almost exactly one month after purchase. It has gone "offline" yet again except this time, unplugging it and plugging back in does nothing. The network it is connected to works. It has power. There are no diagnostics. I'm throwing it in the trash. Original review: Works but is a pain with no instructions, and a really outdated and obscure UI on the app. The app ui is cumbersome. It is very obscure to figure out how to set up the sensor. It kept telling me no sensor was found in even though I quadruple checked it was indeed plugged in to the correct port. In the end, I had to kill the app for it to detect the sensor. There is no pull down to refresh or pinch to zoom. You have to set your preferred view settings every single time you open the app because it doesn't remember. Key features are hidden in obscure places (sensor setup is under "misc") while useless information like "gsm ssri" is the first thing you see (this switch doesn't even support a SIM so why put that in the first screen?) Just overall, a really poorly though out, cumbersome and outdated interface. The switch itself is bulky. I have wifi thermometer/hygrometer that is less 1/4 the size of this and I have wifi switches that are also 1/4 the size of this. This is at least twice the size it should be and blocks both outlets if you plug it into a wall socket. In the end, it works but it is too expensive for something so outdated and cumbersome, plus you need to shell out even more money for a hygrometer probe. I could use a couple more switches like this but I'll keep looking. ETA: the device has gone "offline". I checked the switch. It has power and pushing the physical button turned it on and off. I connected my mobile device to the special network I had to set up just for this switch, I'm able to connect to the internet. I logged into both the app and the desktop console. No help or troubleshooting info to be found anywhere. No documentation or troubleshooting info in the box. Unplugging the it and plugging it back in "fixed" it but the intent of this purchase was so that I could rely on it to do its job when I'm away from home and there is no one around to plug it back in. I got this "UBiBot SP1 Smart Plug" to try. As a smart plug, this UBiBot's biggest selling point is the temperature sensing functionality. Let me start with the upsetting part first. - The app is not intuitive to set up. I spent a half day and finally figured out I need to set the customized field so that the plug can read it. - Price is too expensive. It is more expensive than buying smart plug + smart temperature sensor altogether. On the positive side, the app does work with google assistant and amazon alexa. I planned to use it with my AC such that I can control the room temperature. It doesn't work well for my use case -- if I leave home and turns off the AC, the triggering rules will still be active, thus the plug will still turn it on when the temperature is high. I want the AC to stay off when no one is off. Having said that, if your use case requires temperature monitoring 24X7, this sensor might be workable for you. However, getting a smart temperature sensor and plug will be a more affordable way to go. Thus, I'm not recommending this product at this time, unless you can get a deep discount. Thanks for reading this review and I hope you find it helpful. Read more
