The media could not be loaded. Quick review on this Ultrean Air Fryer, 9 Quart 6-in-1 Electric Hot XL Air Fryer Oven Oilless Cooker. It is named the Large Family Size for a reason. Pros - packed very well. In fact the inside product box appeared to have been dropped and was damaged inside the amazon reshipper box. No worries, the item is securely packed in customized styrofoam and bagged. Digital display is really intuitive and easy to use and read . The timer starts counting down from 59 seconds. The display is big and responds quickly. I did not use the presets, but it was really easy to program. There is an audible series of beeps when the timer is complete. After a short time the unit shuts down automatically. Big capacity - the basket is really large which allows you to cook and reheat a large quantity of food at one time. Fan noise - was very low - I was surprised that it wasn't louder - which is a plus. Watch video to hear for yourself. Recipe book - the unit came with a full-color recipe book with 50 recipes. Did not get a chance to use it, but the first listed recipe was bacon! Cons - the unit seems to run a bit hot (see comments below) Size - this is clearly a trade off on what is most important for you and your family. I wanted the bigger capacity to help speed meal prep for the family, but this unit is tall and wide. The cabinet where I was going to house it was wide and deep enough, but at over 14" tall, the shelf position did not have clearance. it is also too tall to fit on our counter under our cabinets. So it looks like I'll need to find space or make some room in the pantry closet. Notes: You need to "break in" the unit before cooking with it. After washing the basket and grill with soapy hot water, the instruction book suggests using some lemon slices and starting the unit in a well-ventilated area and having your windows open. You will run it thru two 5-minute cycles. During the second cycle, there was a burning smell - so make sure you plan ahead and do this in advance of using the fryer to prep and serve your first meal. The silicone "tabs" on the grill require a bit of effort to push down in place. This is required so if you turn the basket over to remove your food (e.g. french fries) the grill stays in place and you don't have a 375 degree grill falling onto you, your counter or floor. It you insert and seat it at an angle it's much easier. Registration - at the time of this review, there was a product registration card for 1 year free product replacement insurance. The process was fast and simple (just need your amazon order number) and they even offered a reward to follow them on some social media sites. Temperature - I heated up some frozen tacos and fish sticks and used the recommended air fryer temperature - 400 degrees. I halved the cook time so I could flip them midway through. I sprayed the food very slightly with olive oil from my Misto sprayer. In this use, the unit appeared to be a little too hot. I tried a second round and I took the temp down to 375 with a similar result - so it may be running a bit hot, or because it was fully pre-heated, the cook time should have been reduced. I suggest you start at a lower temp (at least 25 degrees less) to get a feel for your preferences. Overall, the unit appears solid and well made, the operation is easy and intuitive, and the size makes it family friendly. The trade off is that it is quite tall so storing it may be a challenge. I am already an owner of the Ultrean 8.5 Quart Air Fryer, Electric Hot Air Fryers XL Oven and the Ultrean Air Fryer Toaster Oven Combo, 32 Quart Convection Oven Countertop with Rotisserie, Toaster, Dehydrator and Baking features. Out of the two just mentioned I'd have to state that our favorite has been the 8.5 Quart Air Fryer. However, now that this one has come along, I can see just how much Ultrean has listened to its customers by adding in some nice features that trump the features of the first two. The first two have no ability to pause the cooking. However, this one has a pause/resume display touch control (a familiar icon like you'd see on a music player). This allows you to pause the cooking cycle affording you the ability to adjust temperature and/or cooking time during your cooking cycle without stopping the cycle completely or removing the basket. I believe this to be a much-wanted feature that customers like me have been asking for and Ultrean has delivered with this unit! The display is nice and large and easy to read. It seems quite intuitive with less reliance on having the manual in hand to know how to operate it. The shape, design and contour of this unit seems more elegant and an enhancement, rather than a distraction, to your countertop space. While this doesn't have a detachable full basket like the 8.5 quart, it does have a nice removeable crisper plate that fits in the basket. It is secured with silicone tabs that grab the sides of the basket to prevent it from falling out when turning the basket over to empty contents (like fries, etc.). Contrary to the manual, I did two "burn-in" cycles: a 15 minute, followed by a second five minute -- both at 400F. I also did not use a lemon or lemon peel as the manual suggested. After the first of the two "burn-in" cycles there was a noticeable odor. However, in my opinion, it was not overpowering; less so on the second "burn-in" cycle. Possibly, if I'd have had the lemon, it might have helped minimize the odor. However, with a new appliance (esp. for cooking), I don't believe this is an extraordinary experience, but one I've come to expect. My experience cooking with this unit was outstanding. This unit performs well and seems to produce as good or better results than the other units I own. It browns evenly, and with the battered food I cooked, it left a nicely browned crunchy texture all the way around. Optionally, I did turn the food over after several minutes for a shorter duration cooking cycle just to add a bit more crunchiness and browning on all sides. However, after the first cycle I was pleased with the results I saw and likely would have been just as satisfied with the texture, taste and results had I bypassed the additional cycle. My one wish is that this came at least in an 8.5 quart size. We can cook up to four Cornish hens in the 8.5 quart, but from what I can tell by the size of the 7 quart basket, we might not be able to fit more than three Cornish hens at once in this. Nonetheless, it is adequately sized and large enough to serve well in cooking for a family. For a well-designed, excellent performing air fryer that won't overwhelm your countertop space with its size, I highly recommend the Ultrean Air Fryer, 7 Quart 6-in-1 Electric Hot XL Air Fryer Oven/Cooker. I received the new Ultrean 7 qt air fryer to try out. I currently use a much smaller air fryer - 4.2qt - and was looking forward to the flexibility of a larger unit. This 7qt air fryer is user friendly; the digital display is easy to read, and it’s easy to program. Its construction is solid, and it’s so easy to clean. The basket is nice and big, to fit more food. The square design of the basket allows for more food to lay flat, too. You can definitely roast a chicken in it! It’s perfect for family size meals. My only criticism of the product would be that its aesthetic/look of the outside is not very nice. I do not care for the dark gray color and boxy look. Since it is a larger appliance, I would prefer a glossy white or black, or stainless steel exterior to better blend with kitchen decor. (A choice of colors would be great!) For that reason, and because it is so big, I cannot keep it on my counter, as I do with my other air fryer. Overall, it is a high quality product, and I look forward to using it to make the larger items it accommodates! Read more
