The magnet is very strong but I still had to stick the included magnetic ring on the back of my silicone phone cover. Two rings come with the unit, so I have a spare. I was not able to place the base to the left of the steering wheel on my dashboard because that area wasn't flat enough, but it stayed tight on the flat space in front of the radio/clock display. Fairly decent price and feels like it’s good quality material but does not work as advertised. I tried putting it on my 2015 Tacoma dash and the next morning, it was laying on its side.
