Broke on first use

This product was one of the lowest price refrigerator water filter removal/installation cap tools available from Amazon. My previous cap broke at a mechanically weak part of the design (the FUNDAMENTAL problem is the original Whirlpool design that provides almost zero support for a critical slot that is one of two engaging tabs on the water filter). See photo, the plastic is very thin in the region where filter removal forces are applied. This cap failed the very first time I used it. I had some concern about the potential quality of this cap because of other buyer's comments and the low price, so I ordered a second more expensive cap from another supplier at the same time. Fortunately this second cap worked, and I was able to replace my water filter right away without waiting for another delivery. I can't tell if the cap's plastic is inferior or if the casting was defective, regardless I cannot recommend this cap despite the relatively low price. Read more
