I’ve had these cables for about 3 months now. The second one I have not used much yet and so i’m not sure it has the same problem, but one thing i’ve noticed is that the metal part by the port gets warm. I didn’t think much of this at the time I first started using it, but it has progressively gotten more noticeable. I just figured it was because it was a cheap cable. What concerned me today is that I had my phone on the charger ready for bed and when I picked up my phone, the charger was burning hot. I instinctively let go like I had touched a hot pan. I do not believe a charger becoming burning hot is normal or at all safe. So, I will not continue to use this cable any further, even though it still works. I’m concerned for my safety as this charger is kept very close to my bed. I also notice the lighting port was getting suspiciously dirty/charred looking despite cleaning both my port and the cable pins with a cleaning kit. I might have gotten a faulty cable to begin with and it was never intended to get warm, let alone hot, on the metal part in the first place. Just be warned, check if the metal is getting hot before you accidentally burn yourself or start a fire. Read more
