This Vacmaster canister vacuum flew in on a magic carpet with the promise of being ultra silent, which immediately raised suspicion because nothing that claims to be quiet ever truly is. Surprisingly, it actually hums more politely than most vacuums, sounding more like a mildly annoyed cat than a jet engine. The suction power is impressive for a compact canister, picking up dirt, crumbs, pet fuzz, and whatever mystery debris was hiding behind the bookcase. The design looks modern enough that no one feels the need to hide it in a closet, and the HEPA filter does a respectable job keeping dust from marching right back into the room. I have to say I am HUGE fan of Vacmaster as I have their 16-gallon shop vacuum and their tool box vacuum (which is great too for your garage/shop). Using it is somewhat straightforward (I couldn't figure out where they wanted me to put the tool holder) since there is no assembly beyond clicking the wand together, attaching the tools, and pretending to understand what the power icon means. The built in dust tool is extremely convenient, especially for cleaning shelves and vents without digging for attachments that normally vanish into an alternate dimension. The one touch dust cup release is appreciated, although occasionally it releases with a bit too much enthusiasm and threatens to redecorate the trash can zone with dust confetti. The retractable cord is smooth most of the time, but there are moments where it demands a firm tug like it is negotiating a contract. The vacuum performs well on carpets, hard floors, and the dreaded in between rug zones where crumbs like to retire. The canister glides around furniture with minimal drama, though it occasionally bumps into chair legs with the confidence of a robot learning emotions. Above floor cleaning works nicely thanks to the flexible hose, even if the wand sometimes feels a little longer than necessary for short people. For everyday cleaning, it earns its keep and definitely makes the house look less like a dust migration site. I cleaned things that had been behind the fridge for WAY too long, and that kitchen ceiling fan that is between our kitchen and dining room (as not to cool or mess with food but provide air flow). Three times I had to empty the tank. I have to add a personal note here. I am no longer used to canister vacuums. So I kept getting caught up in the cord, hose, etc. and I looked like a confused octopus. It took awhile to get used to it. While powerful it's nowhere as powerful as their shop vacuums (naturally). Also not as powerful as some of our VERY expensive uprights, but then again their price was MUCH higher than Vacmaster's CC0501 which is priced very reasonable at least at the time of this review. Let's just say I tested this Vac and it passed the tests, especially how quiet the unit compares to others, it was I was the one that failed. :D Excellent Things 👍 Quiet operation compared to typical vacuums 👍 Strong suction for carpets, hard floors, and random snack debris 👍 One touch dust cup and built in dust tool add convenience 👍 HEPA filter helps keep the air fresher instead of dustier Unworthy Things 👎 Dust cup sometimes pops open with too much enthusiasm 👎 Retractable cord occasionally requires a dramatic yank 👎 Wand length can feel a bit awkward in tight spaces 👎 Canister bumps furniture like it is still learning spatial awareness Read more

My dyson finally crapped out after like, 8 years and i saw an opportunity to try a new one and went for this one through Vine. I really like it. its not too heavy. easy enough to carry up the stairs, has some useful attachments, its a pretty compact size. My Dysons had been struggling for a hot minute and when in finally used another vacuum and it actually picked up the stuff on the floor. i got excited. The suction seems pretty good. was able to clean up cat littler that was knocked over. It's also surprisingly quiet. that wasn't something i was expecting, but was surprised at how quiet it was. I had held off on testing it the night before because i was worried about it being too noisy in my apartment but the next morning when i tried it, i figured i could have just run it at night anyway lol. the only thing i would say is lacking is the standard vacuum head attachment, it seems to not really glide on carpet. the plastic is just a straight edge, so there's no plane for it glide over the carpet so pushing forward is a little harder than pulling it back. and the grip spot i find i need to hold futher back as well. Also the plastic material seems to generate some good static because cat fur was clinging nearly all of the nozzle head from pushing it over the carpet. all in all, it functions well, its quiet, and if you had hard floors its probably better. i think the price could be a bit lower though based on the attachment materials and inefficient design of them Read more

The media could not be loaded. This is a nice vacuum, it really surprised me coming from many floor vacs to eventually a central vacuum. I was surprised how quiet it was. I have tinnitus and wear hearing protection when using traditional vac's but this thing is quiet, i didn't need any. I have had the robots, floor vac, you name it, now central. I've also seen the crazy prices people pay for over engineered floor vacuums. This is my first canister. This vac is light, and VERY quiet, has a unique built in brush tool in the handle. I'm surprised for the price it's this quiet , HEPA, and feels well made, and i believe for a canister has really good suction. Also has several attachments, retractable cord!, and the retractable handle. Suction i think is great, it surprised me. I've reviewed several vacmaster products and have been pretty impressed by the construction, details and attention to noise and suction. 16 foot cord works great for older houses which typically have small rooms. Any house built in the last several decades require outlets every 12 feet along a wall so there is small chance you would not have an outlet close by. Compared to other vac styles, these are easiest for stairs, and under and for cleaning furniture while you are vacuuming due being able to have a long reach and not pull up some tiny hose like on floor ones. They are also light. You will not want this for carpet, these typically don't have beater brushes. I tried to see if my central beater brush would fit but it wouldn't (those run off suction , though some have electric driven heads from the hose). This has a button on the head which is a carpet mode, it seems to brush up stuff for suction later. Not as good as a beater brush but probably ok for very low pile. If you have any thick pile rugs, etc you'd probably want a regular vac or both. I know with our central i switched quickly to a beater brush head for larger rugs. If you have small rugs, nothing beats taking them outside and flipping them around. Do note though the canister size, but since these typically are for mostly low pile or hard floors there's not as much stuff hidden so capacity should be good. It's super easy to empty. It also has a hepa and a pre filter so the exhaust is super clean. It's light so easy to pull by the hose. I have no idea how long vacmaster keeps spare parts like hoses, heads, etc so that's something you may want to check if that concerns you. Compared to my central attachments they are different sizes so i'm not sure if other canister attachments may fit. I think this is a good value if you have mostly hard surfaces. It's HEPA, its' quiet, it has some really neat features and vacmaster products usually get really good reviews. It's probably the next best thing to a central. Just know with canisters they typically don't have beater brushes but i'd sort of be surprised if an air driven one wouldn't run off this units suction, it seemed surprisingly strong or they could incorporate an electric beater brush with a small wire thru the hose like some central units.
