When traveling on relatively short trips (up to a week), I use a typical 22 inch carryon. My packing challenge are my size 13 shoes which take a lot of space. I hoped that these vacuum bags would help. So I did a test pack with the clothing for an upcoming coming 6 day trip. In one of the bags, I put 3 flannel shirts, 6 pairs of underwear, 6 pair of socks and a nightshirt. It is possible that i might have had room for another shirt. This went into the main compartment along with a pair of shoes and my toilet bag. There a small amount of space remaining and I could put a couple of items inside the shoes. I used the second bag for 2 pair of pants. This went into the lid compartment along with my rain jacket. The bag closed easily around all of this stuff. I couldn't find an adapter of those that came with the vacuum pump that fit the port, although is one more to try. I used my Flextail Max 3 instead. I was surprised that one was required to assemble the disk that seals the port into the correct location. There are lots of similar bags available.
