I got this to have a more precise scale on hand because two of my cats are obese and need to go on diets. My older scale only measures in half pound increments, not too useful when you're dealing with small animals. This is better in that it displays smaller differences, but it also has the setback that the cats are too small to trigger it on their own. (Maybe placing a board or something on the scale beforehand would help..?) I have to hold them, weigh the two of us, then weigh myself and do the math. Which kind of defeats my purpose since I'm not sure this is really a better gauge of their weight than before. It is a better gauge of my weight (probably? shows me about 1.5lbs heavier than the other scale does) and is reasonably fast at displaying the numbers. Maybe a little slow when the cats are feeling feisty. It's not marketed as a small animal scale so I can't really fault it for this. Comes with two AAA batteries installed. Very easy to set up. It's a basic scale and the screen does not light up. Take that as a positive or negative as you will. While I've had other scales like it that you can step on four or five times and get readings that are within two to 4 pounds of each other, this scale consistently produces the same readings as long as you are somewhat haphazardly on it with both feet. It's about 2lbs off of my main scale which is accurate to my doctor's scale, but about £5 of variance between scales for most people is pretty normal so I really can't complain. The consistency and accuracy is the huge thing here with not having to worry about whether or not you stood the right way to get an accurate weigh in each week. I personally think it has an elegant modern look that's very out of the way And I mean... it's a scale. And it comes with batteries.
