I am the proud owner of several stands like this - mostly because I have accumulated way too much technology over the years and need organizational implements to keep everything nice, neat, and out of the way. These vertical laptop stands are awesome - because they allow you to maintain your desk / night stand space while still having your laptop / tablet / etc close by. If you are looking for one of these, chances are that you see there are a multitude of options to choose from. Some hold 2-3 devices, some are made of plastic, some are made of metal. First, I will recommend that you always choose the metal variant if you can. The plastic ones are not heavy enough, not that much more affordable, and will inevitably break; possibly costing you much more than the couple of dollars you saved by not purchasing a metal stand. The number 1 feature that sets this unit apart is the thumb screw adjustment being readily available to increase or decrease the depth of the stand. Many (most) others require the use of a hex / allen key on the bottom to get the depth dialed in, and is intended to stay that way. This is inconvenient if you use your stand for multiple devices, or plan to place a different device in the stand from time to time. Believe me, I know all about this, and I have been frustrated more than once while looking for the right size allen key to make an adjustment to my stand so I can put my other laptop in there. The fact that this one has an adjustable thumb screw (which works really well, by the way) was the main reason I ordered it. The weight is substantial enough to inspire confidence that it will not tip over, and the base width really seals the deal in that regard. Everything that you would expect to be cushioned / rubberized is, ensuring that nothing is going to slip around or get scratched up. Overall, this is a 5 star stand and I am happy with it. The only trade-off for this type of unit is not having multiple slots for more than one device. But as I said, the adjustability is the big bonus with this setup. Read more

I am a great fan of this type of design of device stand and chose this particular one for it's apparent sturdiness and extra weight compared to some - I wasn't disappointed when it arrived. While it's a similar size to many on the market, this one has an advantage on sturdiness in locations where cables may be tugged or equipment might be at risk from falling off benches or table, without a permanent attachment or clamp to a surface. I often use stands like this to hold electronic 'boxes', for example switches or routers, in place while testing equipment configurations and particularly where space is at a premium. While this is a sturdy stand it's also very easy to move around and adjust. I found that this stand holds also holds an Apple 4k TV box securely. In it's narrowest setting it holds an iPad with wiggle room to spare. Exact measurements will depend on the model however the stand probably won't grip an unprotected iPad (one without a case) so tightly that it's necessary to worry about having to be precise in placing it in the stand. With wider settings I foresee using this type of stand for also holding tablets, phones and even notebooks (paper, not computers). I haven't yet tested with a mini PC but the size indicates it should work with the ones we have. To verify that there is actual steel content I tested with a small magnet, which adhered firmly to the surface (this can be seen in some of the images). I feel that it's good value, compares favorably with others, and recommend it as worth a try For my particular use case it easily meets expectations and will be in constant use. Read more

This vertical laptop stand is well built and does exactly what it’s designed to do. The aluminum construction feels solid and stable, and the silver finish matches Apple hardware nicely. Once adjusted, it holds laptops securely with no wobble or risk of tipping. Obviously, the laptop is vertical, and this base is not weighted. It will tip if knocked over. BUT I don't feel like it is sitting precariously. For my installation it is between the monitor and wall, so not a high risk if it does tip over. If you have cats... I don't think any vertical mounting stand will be for you. The adjustable width makes it versatile — I’ve used it with an 16 inch M1 MacBook Pro, and it accommodates different devices easily, including tablets and other laptops. The padding inside the slot protects the device from scratches while keeping it firmly in place. At no point does metal touch metal with your device. I have mine adjusted a little loose so it is easy to insert and remove the laptop without having the hold the base down. If you wanted it tighter it won't just slide out without holding the base down with your other hand. Overall, this is a simple, effective way to reclaim desk space and keep a clean, organized setup. A great option for anyone running an external monitor and keyboard who wants a neat, vertical storage solution for their laptop. Read more
