I love this portable AC unit! I work from home and my small office (about 10x12 feet) can get very hot in the summer. I have a 220 gallon aquarium and run a server, 2 laptops, and my main computer in my office and the heat generated builds up early in the day and doesn't dissipate until well past sunset. This AC does not have the humidifier option, but all the other elements (base model). I set the temperature and occasionally adjust it and it comes on and off as necessary to maintain the temperature. There are manifolds on the front that allow air-direction, which I direct to under my desk for my computers/servers. I don't use the other features, but they all seem to work as advertised. This unit has made a HUGE difference in my office, and, since I spend up to 15 hours a day therein, has been wonderful. The comfort level is greatly increased and I've not noticed any major difference in power utilization, so the energy efficiency seems on par with other similar items. Cons: The only con is in how I received the item. There were 'splashes' of some sticky, bronze colored liquid over the outside of the item that to this day cannot rule out possible internal leakage. While the unit has worked as intended, I'm not convinced the life expectancy is diminished due to the loss of this liquid. Or did someone spill a coke all over it before wrapping it in plastic? This item retailed for $400 when I obtained it and while I think the price is a little high, the new requirements likely make this worth the price. Yes, I recommend this for small spaces. Read more

My initial attempt to describe the problems, in great detail, that I had with this machine somehow ran afoul of Amazon’s formal review policies, so here is a very condensed version. As shown in the accompanying photo, it arrived with a foul, oily coating (inside the plastic bag, not outside) that took me half an hour to clean off of the housing. After purchasing and installing the recommended vent kit, I tried it in our main bedroom. After two hours, it had not cooled the room at all and only reduced the humidity by a single percent. Three hours more on its dehumidification setting, the humidity in the room was the same and the temperature had increased by 1 degree. I could feel a modest amount of cool air coming out the front, heard the splashing water that indicates that feature was working, plus the warm, humid air from the back was being exhausted outside but the net effect was still approximately zero. I encountered a host of other problems, too, from a badly designed water tank and water pickup tube to a poorly written manual and an intermittently defective power switch. I had hoped that this relatively lightweight and low power device would help condition the air in our bedroom for the rest of this summer but it looks like I will need a ‘real’ air conditioner to do that. This is the smallest air conditioner I've ever seen. When I first got it the cold side fan didn't work and since I'm an engineer I took it apart swapped the hot side and cold side fan got it spinning and eventually got it working and put it back together. I also got to see how it works and I'm very confused by the tub of water underneath. There's a small water pump that routes the water in that tub up to the hot side heat exchanger, which makes some sense in that it would help to pull the heat out but I've never seen that in any air conditioner. The biggest problem is that the exhaust piping is extra and it does not come with this air conditioner which renders it almost useless. You cannot cool down a room if you are pumping the same hot air into the room in fact, it will gradually make the room hotter because there are other in the system that amount to 150 watts of continuous electrical power that is heat being dissipated in the room. It is pretty small and pretty portable although if I compare it to my big window portable air conditioners it's about a third the size but about a fifth the amount of cooling power. Without the exhaust fan you can't really use it in a bedroom unless you put this right next to the window so that it could exhaust immediately outside, which is probably what I'm going to do with this and just put it in my tent trailer to run off of my batteries because it's such a low power. It conclusion, it doesn't get super cold because it doesn't draw a lot of power, the water is confusing and I don't understand when it'll ever turn on and circulate the water over the hot side, which isn't actually necessary. This product is not very useful and I cannot recommend it. Read more

I'll admit, I completely misread the description, and thought this was a powerful 18000 BTU AC, when in fact, it's only 1800 - I didn't realize they made them that low-power. Only after trying to cool down my insulated garage, in Texas, in August, with no effect, did I re-read the product description and realize it was way underpowered for my needs. That said, it's a nice unit, it does blow cold air, and it's pretty quiet. For its size and power, it should only be used in very small spaces, and it really should come with an exhaust duct to really vent heat away from the space. Read more

This little AC does an OK job for small rooms. It cools quickly, runs quietly enough for sleep, and is easy to move around. Perfect for bedrooms or offices if you need a simple, portable cooling option. Just be aware that you will need to place it by a window for extended use as it will blow hot air out of the back. There is no exhaust vent hose that comes with this, and it's not possible to order one that fits from the seller.. ridiculous Read more
