Love these shorts! Longer and comfortable. Not too tight or baggy. Will get additional colors for sure. Read more
I've waited a while to write this review because it's harder to review a hiking short during a polar vortex. I finally just decided to put these Viodia 13" Womens Hiking Shorts to the test on the treadmill and in the gym. For background, I am a 69-year-old hiker who's done the entire Appalachian Trail, Rim to Rim of the Grand Canyon in both directions, and have hiked hundreds of miles more in state, national and provincial parks in the US and Canada. I have hiked in skirts, tights, zip-off pants, and shorts, depending on my mood, the trail and the weather. Now to these shorts specifically: FIT: I am 5'5" tall and weigh about 130 pounds. I almost always get a medium in active wear because obviously you need room to move, so that's what I got in these shorts. I think in hindsight I might have been happier in a small because these shorts are very full around my hips and legs. With the drawstring, I can keep them on without any problems, and honestly in some really rocky, technical climbing, the looseness of the fit would be a plus, even if not a fashion statement because of how loose the fit is. FABRIC: The fabric is slightly stretchy, which is awesome for when you're scrambling up or over rocks. It's also thin and seems to breathe well, but I can't attest to what it would be like in July on trail in, say, Virginia or Pennsylvania. LENGTH: The length comes to my knee, as pictured. I would have preferred it maybe a tad shorter, and most of my hiking shorts are 10", but the additional protection these would provide on trails with briars, rocks or ticks would be welcomed. Since I wear compression sleeves, with these shorts I would have full coverage from my shoes to my waist. POCKETS: I do use a fanny pack typically on long-distance hikes, in addition to my pack's hip belt, but I still love pockets. On shorter hikes, pockets are a must for me. There's two very deep, easily accessed hip pockets and then two zippered pockets below them. You can put ziplocs in any of them to keep things quasi waterproofed, like your cloth for your glasses, your ear buds, your phone, etc. My cell phone fits in one of them nand will zip closed (Pixel 8 Pro). There's an additional zippered pocket in the back as well. I can keep energy gels, snacks for me and the dog with room to spare, and also have a place to keep another ziploc to put my trash in. Much easier than taking off my lightweight day pack to access everything. Even when we're hiking with all our long-distance gear, I've always gone something in my pockets. CARE: The shorts are machine wash and tumble dry, which is a must for me with hiking gear. If you're in a hostel or on long trails, everything is going to be laundered en masse and you don't have time for line drying or special instructions. VALUE: The price on these shorts is really reasonable. Right now there's a discount coupon, so it's an even better deal. I'm not sure how they will hold up to the rigors of intense trails or hiking (and have no way to test that at the moment), but if they last even one summer, they would be worth it. Read more

I’ve been fortunate enough to have three days in a row where I live too hot to wear warm clothes after 10am. I choose to wear these black camo shorts. They come down a bit below my knees and have lots of room for movement and being active. The material is double layer and very light: the shorts weigh 9.4oz. The waist size is as shown in the sizing guide and the drawstring is on the front of the elastic waistband, which I like better than it being on the inside where you can feel it. The shorts themselves are a loose fit with a droopy crotch…. Perfect for hiking and vigorous activities. There are two open front pockets you can stick you hands in and then three zipper pockets to secure your stuff. Although the zipper pockets are generously sized, putting heavy stuff in them doesn’t feel real comfortable because your stuff bangs against your legs when moving about due to the lightweight material. I will prefer lighter stuff for those pockets during activities and the heavier stuff secured in a pack to keep them from flopping around. These shorts will definitely dry quick and keep you cool. These hiking shorts from Viodia are really nice. They have two side slant pockets, two cargo zipper pockets, and one rear zipper pocket. So, you have plenty of room for keys, credit cards, ID, etc. They have an elastic waist with a drawstring. They're Bermuda shorts so they are long and the hem sits just above my knees. The material is lightweight and water resistant. The material is polyester and elastane, so they won't fade or shrink, and they have some stretch to them. These shorts are more suited for casual occasions or hiking and walking. I think these shorts are true to size. I'm between small and medium in bottoms right now and ordered the small. They fit good, just a tad snug in the waist. For reference, I am 5'7", 28" waist, 36" hip. At the time of this review, you have your choice of twelve different colors and the price for these shorts is $26.09 which I think is a little pricey for polyester shorts. Read more

These shorts are made of a great lightweight & breezy easy-care fabric that will travel well without wrinkling and keep you comfortable while hiking and walking around. They have plenty of pockets, including zippered cargo pockets on either side and one zippered back pocket, plus non-zipping pockets for your hands. This allows for plenty of secure storage, which could enable you to skip carrying a purse or waist pack for essentials, always a plus. I also think the fabric looks really nice--smooth and with a slight sheen. That being said, there are a few things that I wasn't crazy about--they're a little too long for my frame (I'm 5'3")--the shorts hit right below my knees, so if you're embarrassed about your knees, these might be the shorts for you. They're quite loose, whicch I don't find terribly flattering, but the looseness does keep them comfortable. Finally, this fabric is the sort that attracts visible particles with static, and I noticed that fresh out of the package, they seem to have had someone else's skin flakes on them--honestly, it's a pretty serious turnoff when I receive a purportedly new item that clearly has been tried on and returned without being thoroughly inspected and cleaned before reselling (see photo with visible white dots of dandruff). I can confirm that after trying them on myself, I also found a significant amount of my own tiny skin flakes on the inside of the waist band. Read more
