Ok so a few things to note here. 1. These pills are not coated so they are chalky and dont "slide down" your throat. 2. Check the photo - They are thicker than you would expect. most pills of this size are thinner. So again they dont go down great. 3. Check the serving size vs claim. Misleading IMO. is 4000IU per serving with 1 serving being 2 pills. So the per-pill cost is not accurate. Read more

Don't choke!

I generally don't have trouble swallowing pills, so I opened these (and removed the foil safety seal under cap) and popped one in my mouth along with my usual horse pill sized calcium supplement and promptly needed more than half a cup of water and several sips to get them both down. I generally take my vitamin D with a fish oil gel cap but for some reason grabbed the calcium first. But I think it was this vitamin D pill that caused the issue. The pills are small, like an aspirin, but thicker, and don't have nice tapered edges. I appreciate another reviewer noting that these are scored and can be halved. I didn't initially notice that and it might help make the pill easier to go down and allow me to take a smaller dose. I cannot maintain my vitamin D levels without supplements (check them at the lab annually), but even with supplements of 1000-2000 IUs, I end up in the lower part of normal range and a friend who is an RD said I should be aiming for the middle of the normal range. So 4000 IU may help with that. The expiration date on these is about 2 years out, so plenty of time to use them. And for the price (currently $5.95 for 240 pills), it's nice to see K2 added, which is not always easy to find on lower priced vitamin D products. I wish they were easier to swallow but I'll work on getting used to that. Read more
