I’ve only used texturizing powder a few times before, and this one might not quite measure up, but it is good! I have very oily hair that sometimes starts looking greasy by day 2 after wash day and loses volume by day 3. This powder really does help with helping add texture to my hair and remove the appearance of oil. However, it isn’t really long-lasting on volume and hold if that’s your main priority. Any semblance of hold that this texture powder provides is gone within 2-3 hours. But for me, it’s great as a dry shampoo replacement and for making day 2-3 hair (whether naturally or heat styled) look fresh and not so oily. I do wish the product ingredients were included on the listing and the packaging. I really like the pump and the way it deposits the product right on the roots, and the size is perfect for traveling or for throwing in my purse. Decent quality for under ~$20 but you could probably find something more effective for the process. Read more
This is a hair texturizer powder that is great for back combing and teasing underneath. It does not stiffen hair like hair spray but rather gives it a bit of friction so that teased hair will stay that way underneath. This is my first time using it and I paired it with a crimper instead of back combing. The powder itself is stark white but you need only a bit to back comb/style and have the hair stay in place. The white almost disappears as you comb. I think this powder may be similar to what is used in dry shampoo as it will almost always pick up scalp oil as well. Read more
I get why the other reviews aren’t stellar but I think it really depends on what you want this product to do for you. I have very fine hair that has started to thin. But I need to wear it up in a ponytail or a hair clip when I’m working. But because of the texture of my fine, straight hair, I always get wisps and strands that just come loose and fly around my face. This product thickens my hair up and gives it some “grip.” My hair stays back and in the clip so much better. It also acts as a bit like a dry shampoo for me when I shower and night, sleep, and then get up to style using this. I don’t need it to provide me extra lift during the day, just that thickening and gripping effect. And it does that. I do wish the ingredients were listed either in the listing or on the bottle though and I took a star off for that information being missing. It does take a little more effort to wash out than without it. For me, that means I shampoo twice in the shower. With my hair being so fine and thinning, I only have to shampoo once when I’m not using this. For me, the pros outweigh the cons and I’ll be using this for my updo styles. Read more
I like the pump bottle, it makes it easy to get into your roots. The product itself is a small bottle and a little goes a long way. At first it makes my hair look impressively lifted and nice and big but it quickly falls flat and then my hair just feels gross. So for me hold isn’t good. It feels weird in my hair, heavy and sticky and makes me feel like I have to wash my hair sooner than usual, the day after I put it in (I’m a twice a week gal so even if I put it in fresh, clean hair I feel like I need to wash it the next day.) I do have long hair so maybe this is made for shorter hair. This is sort of a texturizing product and can help you get some grip which I thought might be good for braiding but I find it really hard to brush through and keep it tangle free while braiding. I still have not found anything that really keeps my long hair lifted, this or hairspray. (I mean I could pile on hairspray and make helmet hair but who wants that? I don’t.) The quality seems fine, although I couldn’t find the ingredients listed. For me this doesn’t work well. Read more
