The PS VR2 rubber face pad that came with the unit works OK, but rubber against my face tends to get sweaty and feels a bit slimy after a short while. After a half hour of play, my face gets wet around the face pad. Also, the rubber baffles over the nose make my nose itch. I have to move these around continually during gameplay and scratch my nose. So annoying and immersion breaking. The new VR face pad is a significant upgrade and a must have for a PS VR2 user. It fits my face perfectly. The padding is perfectly firm and comfortable and evenly distributes pressure around my face and is balanced the pressure on my forehead as usual. The VR unit is now more secure and does not shift around during gameplay. My eyes stay in the sweet spot during gameplay. This face pad breathes. It blocks out all light. The PS VR2 now feels more premium like the Quest 3 does. With the old face pad, I could play 45 minutes at most because of how hot my face became. I played for two hours with the new face pad. My face was cool and dry. The headset is much more comfortable now. Read more

Works well it’s more comfortable than stock. You can hold it in the correct position without it being too tight so it’s a lot better to wear. Underrated product if you ask me. My only gripe is the bottom part lets a bit too much light in but you can ignore it- at least while racing in gt7. Good product if you have a psvr2 you should get this in my opinion. Read more

These things don't feel heavy, but you can definitely feel the extra weight once they are installed and on your head, in my case to the point of discomfort after wearing them for anything longer than about 45 minutes. The padding is nice I guess, more pleasant than the silicone version, but I find myself adjusting them constantly to remove the pressure around the eye and nose area. Light blocking is slightly better than the OG shroud, but that also requires some adjustment (for my head anyway) and I think that is where the pressure is coming from. For me, the visor has to be forced lower than normal in the front to block all light. Last complaint, is the complete lack of instructions. It's a simple thing to do once you realize how the shroud is attached to the frame, but like many here have said, you can (and I did) damage your frame if you don't know what you are doing. (Which I didn't) The main thing to know, is there are little hook tabs that run around the outside perimeter of the frame, and the ONLY thing you are trying to remove, is the silicone shroud. This is confusing, because this unit is a LOT bigger than the original. I recently purchased an aftermarket silicone shroud, (SSTARiT) and am much happier with it comfort wise. Read more

I’ve seen some mixed reviews about this, and sadly, most of them don’t talk much about the face pad’s performance, and seem to be more like an opinion rather than a thorough review. That said, here’s my detailed experience with this in hopes that it’ll help you decide whether this is for you or not: Positives: - Let’s begin with the main reason I bought this - comfort. It greatly improves the way the headset feels. This face pad, paired with the Globular Cluster really completes the setup. In a way, it now feels more like a helmet. - Temperature: Yes, the PSVR2 will make you sweat, but after a “short” two hour session in GT7, I found this face pad has much better air flow and didn’t feel as hot as with the flimsy factory rubber shield. Maybe this is due to the perforated “leather” and one other detail that I will get to in another point. - Installation: Fairly straightforward. Requires some fiddling with the headset’s plastic frame for it to fit, but it does click into position easily and stays in place. - Can this be used with prescription glasses / lens inserts? Absolutely! I saw some reviews stating otherwise, but I tried both ways with success. Lens inserts will be a bit more difficult to fit, but it is possible with some patience and care. The ones I use have inner “nose” cutouts and it does help fit the pad’s nose cover (VR Optician). - Price: I’d say you get a lot for what you pay for. I just wish Sony would’ve included this out of the box. Negatives: - Outside light: While the pad does feel great, there are gaps at both sides by the temples. This allows some light to leak through and may become annoying to some as it will reflect on the lenses. I use the VR in a dark room with IR lights so this is not a concern for me. These gaps may also contribute to the good ventilation, so it may be a good compromise to some, although it may also depend on the shape of your face. Upper and bottom areas create a good seal against light if fitted properly. - Also depending on the shape of your face and where you need to fit the upper pad section, it may get caught with the VR2’s cable bracket when sliding the googles back and forth. I solved this by cutting a little piece off the pad and burning it to seal the seams. We’ll see how this holds up long term. - Instructions: I think this is the worst part. Instructions are vague at best, and this is highly the cause of most negative reviews about fitment or stating that the pad gets loose. In conclusion, while not a 5 star product, I’m very happy with my purchase and hope this holds the test of time. Read more

The face guard for the PSVR2 is in no way comfortable. I bought a few other products to improve how the HMD feels, but even with the comfort mod and head strap from Globular Cluster(another great product), I couldn't keep the full weight of the headset from resting on my nose. I'd seen this product on Amazon before but hesitated because I wasn't sure it would fit snugly over my face, but last week I'd had enough of having to quit an hour into a gaming session because the pain on the bridge of my nose was unbearable. I've only had it for a day but it's a perfect fit. Putting it together was easy, though it looks like it may be there for good because of the clips it uses. It looks like it could be carefully removed using a pen or something, but I don't think it will be necessary. There's no light leakage at all, and there's nothing resting on my nose at all because of the way it makes contact with my face, unlike the thin rubber film the PSVR2 ships with. If you want much longer sessions with your PSVR2, this is more than worth it especially for the price. Read more
