Lightest backcountry bidet option - great for backpacking
These are the absolute lightest option for a backcountry bidet at 8g/0.3oz. It can be tricky to find the right bottle, but you will. I found a mini Mexican soda bottle in the grocery that is perfect, making the whole ensemble 21g/0.7oz. This one takes a bit of finesse to keep the water where you want it, but easy enough. I've spent far too much time researching backcountry bidets and find this the simplest & cheapest of all. I personally prefer an occasionally available option at https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JTK86N0/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_5?smid=A318PB6Z1EAECP&psc=1. It's another lightweight (13g/0.4oz) top that doesn't fit all bottles out there (too big for arrowhead water) where the spray apparatus slides into the bottle and is capped for transport. The best complete kit is heavier at 49g/1.7oz but has 2 spray options and is a well designed unit overall. It's also on amazon at https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007ZLB3NA/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 or ebay (it's out of Japan, key words bb 317 LEC). Yet another makeshift option is basically the lightest of all when the entire kit is considered (17g/0.6oz), but this 4oz squeeze bottle lacks a spray extension. That said, there is a backpacker that wrote about the more than adequate reach of a 4oz bottle if you care to search for it. So, it all depends on where you're taking it and how much weight matters to you. Photos show each. Very glad for this and other options when traveling or hiking. Read more
