🙄Needs Instructions!
I truly wish they would make the tubing for dental irrigators from clear tubing🙏. This would allow you to see the condition of the inside of the hose. Our Waterpik Wp-100 tubing appeared to be in good shape. But I had read that algae can grow on the inside of the tubing because it never really dries out. So, we thought we should replace it. Unfortunately, there were no instructions that came with this replacement tubing, (minus -1 star). 🧐A visual inspection of this tubing compared to the original, appeared that this replacement tubing was smaller in diameter. The hole that installs over a barb appeared that it would not fit, due to its smaller diameter. However, we soaked it in boiling water to soften it up and we were able to install it over the barbs at each end. (This is where instructions would have come in handy). Another challenge was how the tubing slid into the handle of the irrigator. There is no screw that holds the two pieces of the handle together and the barb for the tubing is inside the handle itself. We carefully pried the seam apart. There were alignment nipples on the inside of the handle. Unfortunately, the seam was glued together with the alignment nipples, so a few snapped off. It did not break the handle, but the handle does not snap together, so the handle is now taped together 😕. Another instance where the installation instructions would have come in handy. (Minus -1 star because the handle does not snap together back to its original condition). 😀The good news is that our WP-100 works just fine…no leaks! 🤔Installation Heads Up…when you remove the tubing from the barb in the handle, you first will need to move a hard plastic collar that holds the tubing onto the barb. Because the replacement tubing does not include a collar, you need to keep the original collar and before installing it on the barb, the collar needs to be slid back onto the tube. Then, you need to hold the end of the tube in hot water (boiled), Now, place the tube securely over the barb. And finally, you need to slide the collar over the tube onto the barb. That is a mouthful! (Minus – 1 star for the manufacturer not including a replacement collar with the tubing). I do see the health-related value of replacing the tubing. However, it is too pricey, there is nothing magical about this tubing; and there needs to be a better option regarding the handle, see suggestion below. I do not think a taped handle or even re-glueing it are practical solutions for most people. Therefore, I do not recommend this replacement part👎. 🧐Note to the manufacturer… I hope you read these reviews. You should always include detailed instructions with your products especially if someone has to install a replacement piece on their equipment. Plastics break…since the collar that goes over the tubing is a required piece, it should have been included with the tubing. And finally, I think instead of offering just the replacement tubing, it would be more beneficial to the consumer and to your company if you were to offer the tubing, already installed in the handle as a replacement. Then, it would be worth the price you are charging; think “win-win!” Read more
