Why Pay $100 a year for Water??!

I know there is some concern that these filters are only NSF 42 certified and not NSF 42 and NSF 53 certified. This kept me from purchasing for awhile because when you google NSF 53 you will have a mini-meltdown and get worried you have been drinking lead if you haven't had a filter that is NSF 53 certified. However, not to sound too forward, but after the exploitation that LG is doing to it's customers by charging $50.00 per filter and recommending two per year, I said what the heck, why not try to save a little money? I started out by just purchasing one filter for about $10.00 and decided if I hated it, I would take it out and buy the overpriced, authentic LG filter. But we were well over due for a new filter because my husband kept putting off getting the new LG filter because of the price and we had the original filter that came with our fridge when we purchased it (it was about a year 1/2 old - yuck!!) I loved the way it made our water taste so fresh! We live in an area in Texas that has very "mineral" tasting water and this filter gets rid of that taste so that it just tastes pretty dang close to bottled water. I was sold! Now, I purchase the 2 pack for $22.00 and I know I have my filters for the year and I didn't even pay half the price for ONE filter from LG. Another great thing about this filter is, it seems to be a perfect fit for our LG fridge and we have not had any issues with leaking or poor fit or water pressure or any of that.
