These are great hiking boots. They are comphy right out of the box. You will not have to break them it. The wide toe box makes them extremely comfortable and you feet will be happy. I highly recommended these waterproof boots. Read more

These low boots just barely justify their price. they are waterproof with a membrane that doesn't breathe particularly well, if at all. there is some circulation from the wide toebox and through the collar so it's not terrible on short trips. the fit is somewhat triangular, more like altras than anything else. the overall feel is a bit loose aside from the heel, but this does make them fairly comfortable. they're pretty stiff and don't have a ton of cushion, so again better for short trips. overall materials quality is middle-of-the-road with multiple workhorse fabrics and plastics I recognize, and they should prove durable. the sole is lugged aggressively but uses a very hard rubber that doesn't grip well. on soft material like dirt and mud this is fine, but climbing on wet rocks or logs is dodgy. as a result, these boots are a great value for someone dayhiking in muddy or snowy conditions but aren't good for rainy forests. My first review of these would have been more critical. When I first tried these on I didn't think I'd ever wear them. The toe box is not so wide as claimed and they seemed very stiff. I took a photo of them brand new, next to a Keen shoe I've had for probably 30 years just to show what I consider a wide toe box. But I didn't get around to writing that review and I have, in fact, worn them on several occasions. I don't do a lot of hiking, but I have to walk my doodle Billy Boy Blue no matter what the weather is, and my comfortable walking shoes are frequently soaking wet when I get back. Even though I thought they were uncomfortable at first, I gave them a shot, and what I found was that if I actually laced them up, I didn't slide into the toe box so much, and they were much more comfortable. I wore these to the stables and trekked around in pastures, barns, and gravel roads with Billy and I was pleased with how functional they are. They are very lightweight for such a rugged shoe, and my feet were completely dry. Having the high-top ankle support on uneven terrain is a bonus. I do wish they had a wider toe box. At the end of that trip and on other walks, my toes did start to feel pinched. But I take them off at the door, and I'm glad to have them on rainy and muddy walks. Read more
