Most people are not aware but a reverse osmosis filtration system will make your water very clean - but sometimes it can also make it acidic (it did in our case). There are numerous health concerns with consuming acidic water over time - just google it. Anyhow, we have well water and our water has a good natural pH, but it gets lost through the RO system. I wanted to do something to balance it out and figured i'd try this filter. We've had it installed and in use for two months and our water still has a balanced pH now - no more acidity! I own the "Watts WP5-50 Premier Five-Stage Manifold Reverse Osmosis Water Treatment System" purchased here on amazon. In regards to taste - for the first day or two after the install the water does taste like a bad bottle of mineral water. However, after that we could not tell the difference at all. In fact if anything I think it may taste a little better (probably all in my head though). For the setup/installation there's been numerous debates as to how to best install this filter, but here's my setup - and it seems to be working fine. Tap water ---> RO system ---> Polishing Filter ---> this filter ---> faucet. Again, no issues with taste what-so-ever and our pH is nicely balanced. Read more

I use these pH balancing ceramic filters post RO membrane but before the storage tanks. These work great for re-mineralizing your RO water for drinking water purposes. It is best to use the before a storage tank if you have a pressurized bladder type tank. If you add this inline after your storage tank it will slow the flow and pressure of water to your dispensing tap. It raised my TDS from 3 ppm after RO membrane to 30+ TDS. The taste of the water is improved. My last filter lasted over a year and a half and was still going. I changed it because the filter recommends a 12 month replacement cycle. I think I will keep this one inline until the TDS drops which may well be as long as 2 years. They would be great because these are not cheap. I also like to have the water TDS raised before the storage tank so that ultra pure RO water is not in the storage tank pulling chemicals out of the liner and bladder of the tank. It is important to remember that ultra pure low TDS water is "hungry" and will dissolve and pull elements out of what it is in contact with. Glass is the best for storing ultra pure water. Read more

I bought this for my RO system because it made my water taste bitter. After installing this, my water tasted pretty bad...like baking soda. I figured it was just because it was a new filter, but it wouldn't go away. You will see a lot of the "powder" in the water. I don't know if this one was defective or what, but it didn't help my water taste any better, it made it unbearable. I had to return it. My water before adding this was at about a 6, and after it was around a 6.5 or so. I figured 6ph was good, but it tasted bitter, so figured I'd try this. If you have really low ph water, such as 2 or 3, this may make it taste better but the taste of baking soda isn't good. The good - very easy to install. Very well put together with clear instructions. Again, I don't want to give this a poor rating because I might have just gotten a bad one. Read more

After more than a month still very happy with this product. Pros Test performed by filling up to one gal pitcher. Water tastes very good (Wife confirmed.) PH was 6 now it is 8+ Alkalinity 120 Hardness 0 Installs fast Comes with quick disconnects Small size I think filter addresses main health concerns of demeneralized water. Google "world health organization demeneralized water pdf" I will get full water profile in a month. Cons Water despenses slower Standard RO water makes better cafe Standard RO water cleans better Standard RO water might be better for steam cleaner and iron Installed between tank and polish filter, because flow to tank is ~.07 gal/min. Higher PH in tank should extend it's life and reduce chances of bacteria build up. Make sure that you poke the pipe deep into the disconnect or you get water all over the place. Well after three months it still averaged 6.8 ph, but had to remove from system because it slows down the flow more over time. Still lasted 3 months as advertised. Read more
