Upgraded from a 1TB WD Blue drive since I needed more space. The WD Black 4TB drive allows me to have a lot more space with a 7200rpm speed and 128 MB cache with a 5 year warranty which is much better than the WD Blue drives over 1TB since those use 5400 rpm drives. If you are a gamer looking to have more space for games like myself, or a somebody who would benefit from the vibration resistant chassis and larger capacity then this drive is the one. My old WD Blue is still working after 6 years and since WD Black has a greater warranty I would expect this drive to do the same if not better. Read more

First off a great Steam gaming drive. I usually only get ssds but this drive was on sale for $199. Its a bit faster then my 8TB Red Pro drive and seems to me load games a bit faster. I also have a 1TB samsung 850 evo and a 960 Pro and can tell you in most games the loading times are not much faster compaired to the WD Black and Red Pro. If you have a hdd thats a few years old this would be a good upgrade. Seek times are good because installing new games seems to have sped up a bit aswell. A 100% great buy if you have a big steam/multi user steam accounts. While playing Dirt Rally at 1440P 144hz and DL steam games in the background the drive is doing well. On a different hdd it would stutter bad and be unplayable. Read more

I have always been a fan of WD hdds. Always worked for me, even the ones I got back in 2004 Still work like the day I got them. Sadly I have a small complaint with one hdd I got lately that actually became a huge issue. One of these I bought back in June starting acting up. It still works perfectly and works like a new hdd... but, it started making this low click noise. At first I thought "oh, its just the arm moving." but it never stopped. I like the sound of hdds. It actually helps me sleep. This low click noise though... It keeps me up and I end up feeling angry and like I am going mad. So I turn off my pc now when I don't use it. I guess the electrical bill benefits from it, but when I am not busy doing anything it feels like someone is purposely making a small tap sound every 2-3 seconds over and over and over and over and over. Anyway, I love WD hdds. They have always worked great. Even my first lemon/annoying one still works perfectly... Since I have been writing this review with the clicking in mind, I have been listening to it. Hopefully my brain fades it away after I submit this. Of this model, I have four of them. Read more

WD Black 6TB Performance Desktop Hard Disk Drive - 7200 RPM SATA 6 Gb/s 128MB Cache 3.5 Inch - WD6002FZWX This not first time I purchased this Type of hard drive and it's capacity, in all the years that I have been building and fixing up old computers, I had one of these hard drives go bad on me, after contacting WD on the phone and with ease mind you and surprised me, but I explained what happened and they directed me to the top data recovery companies they use. The drive was just about full with Videos and pictures, (back up, back up always back up) well I did not listen o my own preaching's anyway after a few weeks I was contacted and told that it was un-recoverable at this point it was sent directly to WD and within a week I received a brand new drive no phone call no e-mail, I just got knock on the door and the UPS driver handed me a box with the new drive. I was pleasantly surprised and while I lost a lot with the dead drive, I now had a replacement with no questions asked and I would whole hardly recommend these WD hard dives to anyone, yes they are a bit on the high price end, but I can say that I tend to run my PC 24/7/365 and all my drives are WD and with a variety of size capacity's. most of them are all either back ups of back ups or used for running video, graphics apps on and gaming as well. You will always get a bad drive here and there, regardless of manufacture and I have had noting but good reliable experiences with all my 9 hard drives from WD, While these drives are only 7200 rpm, they do get the job done the only other hard drives that are faster, are the velocity Raptor at 10000 rpm and SSD drives, while SSD drives are the fastest for boot up and running apps, the price point for high capacity much to high, and even those that are 1TB or less are still fairly high priced compared to the price point of a 6TB Hard Drive, yes you can buy a few smaller capacity SSD drives and set up a raid array but you would end up spending almost the same amount if not more to get the same capacity. To get 6TB of capacity with SSD drives in a raid array and this is just an example here, a 1TB SSD is $289.00 x 3 = $867.00 compared to $299.00 for one 6TB WD HHD, now if you were to do the same $299.00 x 3 = $897.00 and you now have 18TB for just about the same price point and you can still set up a raid array. I know this not typical of every SSD manufacture and in time the prices will drop on SSD's and with SSD drives it is recommended to leave at least 40GB free all times to help it last longer and you do not have to Defrag an SSD and you should never do it. In closing I am for the time being sticking with standard HHD's and will continue to use WD HHD's. Read more

These are fantastic drives and worth the money (they cost a little more). High performance, larger caches, and premium build quality makes this a long lasting fast HD. No it doesn't keep up with SSD drives but pair it up with Optane memory and it will be close with huge capacity. Read more

Its been almost a year since I replaced a data HDD in my PC with this WD Hard Drive and it continues to work reliably. The previous 6TB Hard Drive failed after about 6 months of use and I could not write to it any more, I was able to recover the data before it completely failed and was able to return the HDD to the manufacturer for a refund. I have worked with WD Hard Drives for many years in I.T. and rarely see one fail. If it did, it was because the laptop was dropped. I can't say the same for the other brands. Read more

Wicked huge amount of storage space. This is my 3rd Hd in a tower config. Yes, it does make some noise when writing to. Maybe it is the loudest HD ever. Still not that loud unless you demand total silence. Que up pandora and you won’t even notice, I have been using WD drives since the 1990s. They are more expensive than Seagate, but the quality is worth it Read more
