The media could not be loaded. I LOVEEEE my Weck jars, perfect for sourdough started. The lid quality is really good haven’t had any issues with them and it seems to be leak proof. It is dishwasher safe and is very easy to clean. Fits a lot of stuff in it, it is fairly roomy for whatever you’re needing it for! I also like the overall look of them. I would say if you need a good jar to store anything but the Weck jars. I am planning to get more due to how much I love them! You can stack them but I keep my lid loose so I don’t think you should unless your lid is fit tightly. if you’re thinking about it, just buy them!! Read more

I like the Weck canning jars to use for my sourdough starter. It's easy to use and the wide mouth jar makes feeding my starter easy with no mess. It's a good quality jar and I like the look of it. The clamps hold the top to the jar firmly. This is something I would purchase again. Read more

Super beautiful jars! They are so big and nice! Feels very durable. I ended up getting another style from the same brand and preferred it more. These are very useful for sourdough starters. Once I get the hang of it I’ll definitely look into getting more jars! Read more

Now I see what all of the buzz is about with these jars when making sourdough starter. I recently took up the hobby of sourdough baking. For whatever reason I was having the worst time getting my sourdough starter to work. I purchased a couple different types of sourdough starter jars, but could just not get my sourdough to take off. After adjusting many different variables, including flour, water, temperature, and just about everything else, I finally broke down and ponied up the cash for these Weck jars that seemed to be on every sourdough reel and video that I watched. Magically, my sourdough actually started doing what it was supposed to. In fact, my sourdough starter activity is crazy good. With that said, I’m sure these jars are not imbued with some sort of magic. However, I think what they ended up bringing to the formula was that they helped maintain consistent moisture and temperature inside the jar for good fermentation of my starter. Now, could I use different jars to get the same type of result? Sure. But now that I have a winning formula, there’s no reason to look any further. These jars do exactly what I need them to do. They’re high-quality and attractive. If you’re planning on dabbling in sourdough, these jars are a great investment to get you going. Read more

Literally the best jar for sourdough. Perfect size for it. The lid clips are kinda annoying but for sourdough you don't really need them. The upside is they are spring enough if you do use them they will release the gasses before it becomes a grenade. Straight sides make it easy to clean and get out whatever you put inside. Also durable I accidentally dropped one from about 5 feet cleaning it and expected it to shatter. It survived without a scratch. Read more

I bought these put sourdough starter in. The jars that come with the sets are real thin and I can't easily get my hand in to scrub the stuck on dough bits off. These jars are thick heavy glass and wide enough I can get all the way to the bottom to scrub them. I took off the rubber ring and clips because the starter doesn't need an air tight lid. With the clips and rubber ring I think the jar would be leak proof. I'm not sure how to use these jars for canning. I like having two jars so I can have an active jar of starter on the counter and a backup one resting in the fridge in case the active jar gets contaminated or runs out. They are really good quality and look great. Read more

These Weck jars are absolutely perfect for sourdough. The wide mouth makes it super easy to feed and stir my starter without making a mess, and the glass is thick and durable. I love that they don’t have any metal parts touching the starter—just glass and rubber—so there’s no risk of corrosion or weird smells. The glass lids also sit loosely on top, which is great for letting the starter breathe without drying out. They look beautiful on the counter too, which is a bonus! If you bake sourdough or keep a starter going year-round, these jars are worth every penny. Functional, clean, and so much prettier than a random mason jar! Read more

I use these for my sourdough starters and love them. These have a nice wide opening that I can fit my hand into, making it super easy to stir my starter and also clean. I LOVE that the lid doesn't screw on, so there aren't any ridges at the opening like Mason jars have. It makes it so much easier to keep clean. You have the option of sealing the jars with the rubber gasket and clips, or leaving it open for airflow with the lid still on which is perfect for sourdough. The height of these are great, I almost never have spillage from my starter unless it's overachieving that day or I overfed it. Read more
