Water quality was great when I put it in. Looked like glass. They are about half gone and it's been about two days. So I'm assuming they last about four days. I don't know if that's a good value for your money or not. You decide. I think for a clarifier, and nutrients it's great. But, for calcium, I'll go another way. I have a guppy breeding tank with snails. I noticed my snails shells looked white-ish but really didn’t pay much attention UNTIL I went from losing 0 fish a month to 5 fish a month! They were withering & getting skinny before finally passing & I thought I had a parasite! Luckily I watched a video about live bearer disease & these were recommended in the video & I’ve had them in my tank for 5 days & have lost 0 fish & have none acting sickly. I breed snails, & ornamental fish & when I noticed that my snails shells were starting to crumble for no apparent reason, as well as turning white in spots, & lots of random deaths when water parameters were ideal etc. I took to the internet to research, I found out they were lacking minerals & calcium. I read all the reviews as I do before buying anything & have to tell you these are the real deal! In 2-3 days I saw a crazy ammount of improvement in not just snails but, my fish eat them as well as my shrimp! If you're having issues get these, I'm very picky about what goes in my aquariums because I'm a breeder, & avid hobbyist. These do not cloud the water, they don't have a smell, release no chemicals, THERE'S NO DOWNSIDE TO THEM! I love Natural & the fact everything is able to benefit from these shells.
