This is so precise that we (DH & I) are impressed. Also impressive looking as we as a family are trying to lose weight, we have it in the dining room area, and it looks so good you do not notice it don't want to say looks like a piece of art on the floor but it kinda does. 8/24 update - This is probably most used scale ever /s! As stated, it's in a very visible lace, everyone who comes over goes and weighs in! We bought 2 scales, the Octopus and the Turtle they are very beautiful and I love the way they look in my bathrooms. However the platform is very small. I would say child sized. It's hard to keep a steady stance to get a proper weight. The glass is very thin. I've weighed myself several times and get varying weights all within 10 pounds of each other; I need something a bit more accurate. If you do too, then don't waste your money on this one, unless you just want it look nice in your bathroom. Read more

The scale is made of tempered glass. It is smaller than average maybe 1" but the artwork is beautiful. I had trouble with the battery at first, my battery was faulty. I was going to return it and decided to try different set of batteries. Then the displayed lit up! A bright blue light and there it was working perfectly. I feel embarrassed that I asked for a refund. I cancelled the returned of course. The Octopus is exactly what the pictures shows. And I am very happy with my purchase. Sorry for the inconvenience I caused you. I hope that my review makes up for my mistake. I wish you lots of success in the future.
