Weldental Chewtab Toothpaste Tablets Peppermint

I bought these to use on an upcoming trip and want to save as much space in my liquids toiletry bag as possible. I tried them at home and was pleasantly surprised at how well they clean and how minty fresh the flavor is. I definitely recommend them. I like that these are eco-friendly and the packaging is great as well but I feel like these don't get my teeth cleaned as well as the regular toothpaste that i used before. They have a really sweet taste to them from the xylitol but maybe I just can't get over the taste of them, my hygienist could not tell the difference so they probably were working just fine. As other reviews pointed out, I'm not sure if these "toothpaste" tabs are good for your teeth. I will bring it to my dentist in a month. Besides that, they are super easy to use and transport, they foam well, and don't leave an aftertaste or noticeable residue in your teeth. It takes time to adjust to the flavor, though. I believe that they don't need to add stevia to them, the xylitol makes them quite sweet to begin with. I have tried the Peppermint ones so far and they have a hint of herbal smell the first times you use them, but I got used to it. All that said, I love that their packaging was 100% compostable! Even the tape used was paper based. I didn't receive any annoying advertisement inside of the package, just the receipt of my purchase. Thank you for staying coherent with your sustainable message. I decided to try these out on a whim when I first saw them, and I was very surprised. For starters, I had to remind myself to not swallow it b/c it chewed like an Altoid (they kinda taste like Altoids too!). And as I started brushing, it took a good 10-15 seconds before I was able to use it as if I used normal toothpaste, but it did the job and did it well. I also love how it's sort of a zero-waste product, in that it can all go right into the recycling bin when I'm done. My only recommendation would be to figure out a way to phase out glass in favor of a truly recyclable plastic or metal. I say this b/c more and more municipalities are doing away w/glass recycling, and while ours still takes it, I could see that being a thing of the past someday soon, and I'd hate for a product like this to suffer as a result of that. But as for the product itself, it's fantastic. Great for taking trips and going camping. Read more

The toothpaste tablets are the best alternative to the tubes. It tastes great, foams like regular paste, and leaves my mouth feeling clean. the size of the tablets could be smaller, as half a tablet is more than enough to do the job. Read more

I really wish I had done more research on these before buying them. That's on me. I've been using these tablets for a few days and was wondering why my teeth still felt dirty after brushing. I thought at first that I needed more than one tablet, which would have been annoying, but not the end of the world. That didn't help either. So I looked up xylitol since it's printed all over the label that it makes up 60% of the tablets. I was expecting to find that it was some all natural tooth cleaning substance or something. Nope. Xylitol is a sugar alcohol. It is natural, and is found in just about everything, and is also found in dental products you would find in the store. It's the ingredient in sugar-free gum that makes it "dentist approved." However, it's not because it cleans your teeth. The bacteria in your mouth that cause tooth decay feed off of sugar. When introduced to xylitol, they eat it, but it's basically like a bird eating a plastic bag: looks like food, but kills the animal and prevents it from doing its job. So chewing gum with xylitol is only good for your teeth in that it kills off the bacteria that would otherwise thrive with sugar-filled gum. Now, I'm not a dentist, but it doesn't seem to me like that's good enough for toothpaste. Who knows, maybe it is. I have very good oral hygiene, so I feel like I can risk a few months of a toothpaste that only kills off bacteria. So I'll keep using this until my next dentist appointment in four months and ask my dentist for her opinion then, both on the effectiveness of a toothpaste made mostly with xylitol and of this toothpaste in particular. If I'm wrong and this stuff is more than just expensive breath mints, I'll come change my rating. Either way, I'll update with what my dentist says. Read more
