This works well now that I have it up and running. Helpful tip: if you are trying to get this integrated with HomeKit, you have to do it using the iPhone that the Home network was originally set up with. I spent 45 minutes cursing this thing because it kept failing during the install because I had downloaded the WeMo app on my phone and our HomeKit network was originally set up using my wife's phone. Once I downloaded the app on her phone and used it to perform the set up, it recognized the network on the first try and has worked seamlessly ever since. I should have remembered that fact sooner because I ran into a similar issue adding an extra HomePod to the house a few months earlier. Just a weird Apple quirk that isn't spelled out in any of the documentation provided with the plug. Read more

I use 4 of these around the house for various plugs in my life. I only have Apple HomeKit. Configuration was simple enough. Here's a tip - plug it in near the WiFi router for the strongest signal. Then configure it. Then unplug it - and put it in the room you want to use it. When I first configured it - I was in the back room - to be fair - the signal is weak - and I couldn't get it configured. So far so good. Here's an observation - sometimes with HomeKit - it shows a "!" mark next to the plug - like it cannot connect. But you go to the WEMO app - and it's not problem to turn off the switch. So that tells me HomeKit needs some improvements. And the switch works fine. I will say this - pretty darn cool to walk into the house and say "Hey Siri - turn on my living room lights" and POOF - there is light. Read more

These plugs were a NIGHTMARE to hook up and very expensive. Recently switched from Xfinity to FiOS. Old plugs were awesome but we're not compatible with Verizon. It took 2 days to figure out a combinations of troubleshooting. Have had Alexa for 6 years and no issues with the previous plugs which were inexpensive. Love the convenience of walking into the family room and telling Alexa to turn on all lights. If there is a power outage not sure if they will connect after reading other reviews. Just have to wait and see. Read more

So easy to set up, and a convenient way to light the Christmas tree. Where we set up the Christmas tree, the outlet is not conveniently located, so it takes a contortionist to get around the tree to plug it in to light it... and good luck not knocking down ornaments getting in and out! This made that portobello go away. The Wemo network sometimes has issues, but these are not too disruptive. Other connectivity issues can be resolved by force stopping the app, and restarting. I've been using Belkin's Wemo smart plugs for years. Started with the big tan plugs (model F7C027), later the added the wide single plug height (model F7C029), and more recently purchased the narrower single plug height model. I write this as a loyal customer that has many years of experience with these plugs. I love the ability to automate turning on lights and other items with these plugs. It's nice to have lights come on automatically in the morning or evening so the family has light when they wake or come home. I also love their integration with Alexa. The automation and integration works great when initially set up, but then something happens and they lose their connection to the Wemo app and Alexa. This used to be very infrequent, maybe once a year--annoying, but tolerable. In the past year, this has become a much more frequent event. Belkin has changed something, either in the plug firmware or the service. The devices are listed as not found in the Wemo app and Alexa cannot find them. Sometimes, you can unplug them for 30 seconds and then plug them back in and they'll reconnect. At other times, you have to completely reset them to get them to be recognized by the Wemo app and Alexa. The frequency of this problem and the steps to get them reconnected combine to make this entirely too much work. They're unreliable as they currently stand in March 2022. I'm sure Belkin will point to something with WiFi or the internet service. I've been using the same Wi-Fi router for the past three years. It is rock solid. I have had no trouble with any other always connected devices. My internet service is also very stable. I work from home and am on calls all day. There are no problems with the WiFi or internet service. Regardless, Belkin should consider that neither the router or the internet connection will be perfect, so their devices should be designed to be resilient to interruptions. I hope Belkin reads these reviews. I want to love their Wemo plugs and switches. I want to be a Raving Fan and freely recommend their products. Unfortunately, I cannot at the moment. Stay away from these plugs for now. They're too expensive for the reliability problems and they'll drive you nuts. Read more

I am a long-time user of Wemo, dating back to 2012/2013 when they had some of their first-gen “brick” smart plugs and things worked well. When it came time to buy a new one a few weeks ago, I was shocked to see so many poor reviews. It’s difficult to truly gauge these reviews because in the smart home world, there are an infinite amount of variables that came create good or bad experiences. Mine is as follow and I hope it helps some of you... - My home is 1400 square feet about 5 years old - I have AT&T fiber with almost all smart devices connecting to my 2.4 network (yes, I split up my 2.4 and 5 networks) - This wemo is about 30 feet from my wifi router, with a few objects in the way, but a lot of open space in between - Setup was easy inside of HomeKit, which is specifically why I purchased this unit - I am all HomeKit in the house, so no Alexa or Google Asst. - This wemo smart plug is powering another smart device we don’t want on 24/7, so I automated the wemo to turn on once we leave the home - Thus far, it is working without a single issue - The size is very small, compared to their older models and models of other units, thus, it isn’t an eye sore to look at nor does it cover up the socket below it Recap- ever user experience is totally relative to their smart home setup. So far, I am very happy with this purchase. Read more
