Vacuum-Compressed - needs time to "recover"

Read the Product Description thoroughly before you purchase: "The vacuum compressed dog bed needs time to recover to standard height. Rebound can be accelerated as follows: 1. Remove the dog pad from the package, fold it twice along the crease 2. Put the folded dog bed into the dryer for 15 minutes at low temperature 3. Take out the dog bed from dryer, the foam bed will recover quickly" I ordered the Large (42" x 27"). It was folded in half then, I believe, folded in thirds, and vacuum-packed. When I unfolded it there was a very prominent ridge from the middle fold. I followed the directions quoted above (folded twice on the crease & placed in the dryer on low for 15 minutes) and left the dog pad on a flat surface to "recover quickly" for 2 hours. It didn't show any change. I placed it back in the dryer for two 20-minute cycles on low. One side has "recovered" but the other side is still very flat and the ridge down the middle remains quite pronounced. I'll give it overnight to complete the "recovery" but if it's not better in the morning, it's going back. UPDATE: It's been 2 days and the mat is still flatter on one side and the ridge, though less prominent, is still down the middle. This wouldn't be such a big deal except that we have a senior dog. We've decided to keep the mat since we got it at a discounted price. It is a shame that it just isn't bouncing back from the vacuum-package, because it does fit the crate perfectly. I'll keep shopping around for a replacement, it will hold us over until then. Read more
