Super comfy with a caveat

I bought this bag for summer trips in the Rockies because I'm a side sleeper or sleep on my stomach and hate being constricted. It's extremely comfortable, the quality is what you'd expect from WM, and it's very light and compressible so it'll fit nicely in my pack of less than 25lbs. I would caution anyone who wants to push this any further than freezing, the draft tubes are not meant to take serious cold and even in a tent my feet were cold. I think the bottom zipper is a great idea for car camping and warmer climes but I camped at 25º, right at the comfort limit, and my feet were cold. Everywhere else I was pretty good, not super warm, but comfortable, but my feet were cold. Just fyi. Read more

Warmest 2lb. sleeping bag for side sleepers anywhere!

This bag has the biggest waist circumference of any of Western Mountaineering's models. At 68", it is a side sleepers heaven. It has great loft, packs small and has 2 awesome snag free zippers. It is pictured laying on top of a couple other Western Mountaineering bags I own. I purchased this bag as a gift for my boss for a NWT float hunt. While I won't be using this bag myself, I do own the WM Sycamore which is their other 25F bag. The Sycamore isn't as large in the waist but is still a very roomy bag. You can read my review of it on Amazon. It has kept me plenty warm below it's rating. This bag is big, beautiful and extremely well made. It will keep you warm. Read more

Pricy but worth it!

A more comfort oriented sleeping bag that gives you a lot more space to move and turn. It is the largest in their line up as far as i know. It has no collar and is obviously more recreational intended. I am 6'2" and went with the 6'6" version - good choice. You can really snuggle up and close the hood to reduce air exchange. I was able to sleep 4 days at around 35F in a tent with just wearing long sleeves. in the early morning it was not cozy but still ok. For lower temperatures or longer durations i would go with a Sequoia probably. Yes it is pricy even for a down bag but i think it is worth it if you want to enjoy the times outside. I need a good night of sleep so i buy high quality gear. The only downside is the material inside - it feels not too cozy on skin so i recommend a liner or longsleeves. AND: do not use down gear on sailing boats with not always perfect florida weather. That is the only application where i prefer a microfibre bag. Down does not dry in salty-wet environments fast enough. Read more
