This thing is awesome! I've been really enjoying it. It's perfect for iced coffee slushies like you might get from a gas station. I'll make coffee, let it cool (or use yesterdays leftover coffee), do about 1/2 milk or half and half and sugar (mix the milk and sugar before you put it in). Ice cream was a bit more tricky and it will require some experimentation, but it does work nicely. I found the included recipes are ok, but too much cream - I'll lower the cream a bit and use more milk. You can also add cocoa powder to the vanilla recipe to make chocolate - just mix the sugar and the cocoa powder first, then mix that together with 2-3 tbsp of warm milk, then mix everything together. You'll want to play around with the temperature for the ice cream. I wanted firmer, and turned it as cold as it would go (6C), but that makes to thick and it has difficulty turning, and you'll burn the motor out. Turning it down to 5C resulted in a much more consistent result. Very important for ice cream - it's got 2 markers on the side - 27oz and 33oz. These are the min and max for ice cream. You'll get better results with 33oz, but don't go more than that because it will end up going over the top. I haven't been able to get soft ice cream like you might put in a cone yet. I think I need to continue to tweak the recipe a little, but I think I'll get there. My first batch (using a commercial mix) was a flop (tasted like a soft fudgesicle), but once I started just using the recipe in the book (cream, milk, sugar) all my trial batches were very good. For thanksgiving I made a batch and added some maple syrup, and everyone loved it. Also, the ice cream freezes well but you need to make sure you put it in containers and freeze it ASAP - if it starts to melt then it will freeze with little ice particles. But this is nice because I can make a batch of ice cream even if I only want a little, and then easily freeze the rest. I was hesitant about cleaning it - it looked like it was going to be a pain. Nope. Not at all. Do one cleaning cycle of lukewarm water, and then the clear plastic part comes right off and can be washed in the sink. Very easy! Read more

We bought this machine over the ninja slushy because i really loved the soft serve feature. Well. the first time using it, it started to sound like it was struggling when the ice cream was getting thicker (not even really thick it was still to watery to put in a cone) and then it stopped and shot an error code. which I had to completely dump the ice cream because it wont come out of the nozzle unless the motor is running. I tried multiple times and got the same error code so the motor is just not strong enough to do as it claims. It makes slushies fine but I was too worried about the motor giving out completely. So spend the extra 50$ and get the ninja slushy bc its a more trusted brand and u wont have to worry about the motor (the ninja can still make ice cream in a milkshake consistency which is still better than what this one did) it also made the ice cream taste really slimy which was weird it was almost as if it was waxy? even after i cleaned the machine multiples times. its just a a hard no. This machine is several machines in 1. It makes slurpies, milkshakes, frozen drinks, soft serve and I’ve made sorbet. The drinks ate so thick I was really impressed. The 1st slush was so thick I had to eat it with a spoon. The machine is extremely simple to operate and clean. After much research, it was rated 1 of the best, especially for the $. It works way better than I expected. You don’t need any ice at all, and most drinks turn into a smooth, slushy texture in about 10 minutes. The presets are super easy to use and the results are consistent every time. The large capacity is great for my family and the self-clean feature makes cleanup much easier. I like that the outlet and handle come off because it really helps with deep cleaning. It also runs quietly and fits nicely on the counter. Concept is awesome however, if you just want one drink, this is not the way to do it, smallest size to make is 27 ounces. I really wanted to make frozen coffees but each day I would have to add more into what I have left over and I don’t wanna do that. I know that I could make iced coffee with crushed ice, but it’s not the same as turning the coffee into the frozen coffee.. The other challenge is the amount of sugar that has to be in every drink. Even though I believe I followed it correctly twice, I ended up adding maple syrup to it in order to meet the 5% sugar requirement. It’s still froze into a solid and then stopped going. There were two reasons to buy iut, one- spending less money on a coffee each day, but two putting less sugar in what I was drinking. Even though it’s less sugar than Duncan, it was more than I wanted. I would also say that the handle itself is not intuitive to putting back on. It’s kind of spring loaded and not simple.
