This is such a great idea. I can’t believe I didn’t look for something like this sooner. I love that these repellent wipes are individually packaged so you don’t have to worry about a bottle of spray leaking in your bag. I have had issues in the past with bug spray leaking in my luggage when I was traveling to Mexico and this is a great alternative. I ended up using them as stocking stuffers for Christmas, but they are also great to just toss in your beach or pool bag, car or purse. They don’t leave a gross residue and seem to do the trick as long as you make sure to reapply after you get in the water. Two great things going for this right off the bat- no DEET, which isn't great for children, and no spray cans, which are terrible for the environment. In addition, on opening these up I was pleasantly surprised to find the wipes themselves are quite large (probably 6-7 inches by 4 inches or so). The wipes themselves are quite durable as well, unlike cheaper options that often rip or even fall to shreds as you use them. I pulled on one pretty hard from both sides and it didn't even tear- good stuff. The scent is surprisingly mild and just a very herbal/minty kind of smell. Unfortunately, I can't give a great idea of how effective they are as it's winter right now and the bugs are pretty mild currently even in my fairly temperate climate. Based on the ingredients I'd expect it to be moderately effective, and I'll look forward to using it more come spring/summer and maybe updating my review then. In the meantime, they're going into my pack and in the closet at home as well as I think these will be invaluable, especially for kids that we don't want to be spraying with DEET. Read more

I wanted these Wild Guard Mosquito Repellent Wipes as a convenient way of having bug repellent in the car for the occasional times I go hiking with my dog. The main thing that attracted me to them is that it isn't a spray can and with them being in wipe form I don't have to worry about them heating up too much or freezing in my car during the winter. While mainly advertised as mosquito repellent the mosquitos aren't too bad in my area this time of year, but I did use them as tick repellent as the ingredients (specifically Citronella Oil, Peppermint Oil, Rosemary Oil, and Thyme Oil) are a more natural way to repel ticks without deet. The wipes themselves are quite large and durable so they are easy to apply, even on a hairy man leg. I think they were effective because while I found a couple of ticks crawling on me they weren't burrowing in like they often do if I forget to apply insect repellent. The main downside is that if you need to apply all over your body they aren't extremely effective. I don't know that they'd be a perfect replacement if you live somewhere where there's a ton of mosquitos and ticks, but they do in a pinch and are better than no protection. Read more

I ordered these mosquito repellent wipes for my daughter who lives in an area that is frequently inundated by mosquitos. She has to be cautious of using anything with DEET in it because it causes a reaction on her skin. She also doesn't want to use DEET around her cat However, she also has a pretty severe allergic reaction to allergy to mosquito bites and they swell up huge. I saw these repellent wipes and thought they would be good to try since the ingredients are natural and she doesn't have any sensitivities to those ingredients. With the combination of ingredients being the essential oils of citronella, peppermint oil, rosemary, and thyme oils with a glycerin base, it is good for people who want a non-chemical repellent. The wipes which are a generous size last up to 8 hours before you need to reapply. They come individually wrapped, so they are easy to keep in your car, backpack, purse or what have you. I was going to give her the whole box, but I have now decided to "share" them with her. Since is it winter, the mosquitos are not bad right now, but when they come back out again we will both be using the wipes. They are only about 36 cent apiece which is a very good price. Read more

The box container that holds the individual mosquito repellent packets has a large lid that opens to reveal two tidy rows of wipes. The lid has a tab that makes it easy to close for storage. Each packet includes a large 6" x 8" wipe made from thick absorbent material that contains a lot of insect repellent. A single wipe should be sufficient for an adult to fully protect themselves. The packets are much easier to pack away than a spray bottle of repellent in a pack or pocket when hiking. They can also be handed out to each member of a group, so no one person is left acting as the repellent dispensary. I like that the ingredients are a mixture of natural oils including citronella, peppermint, thyme and rosemary. These should be non-toxic, but I have not had occasion to test their effectiveness as a repellent. The outdoors where I live have few insects until spring (it is currently late fall). Once the mosquitos are out I will update this review to give a verdict. For the time being, the product quality appears good and packability is a big bonus. Read more
