works great within a small enclosed area. no its not going to cool your space like an air conditioner. It will take the edge off a hot room and make it tolerable. I like that its so small and portable. Will be easily stored away in the winter time. You also can choose between just water and water cooled with an ice pack(included) to have different levels of cooling. Its really easy to use right out of the box with minimal assembly. Do take care that it does have a little biut of a drip at the bottom that can cause a pool of water over time and use. Just a towel underneath takes care of it. Seems to hardly use any electricity defiantly way cheaper then an air conditioner. worth the money to buy and worth the money you can save on air conditioning Read more
I use this in my home office which is on the upper floor of my house. It can get very warm up there since there is only one vent from the central air up there and its in the room next to my office. I mainly just use it as a tower fan because I don't want to add humidity to the room with my computers and such but it does an ok job of fanning me. It's very quiet and has good output for my small office but I don't think it would cut it in a larger room as it just doesn't push enough air. It is well made as is pretty much ready to use out of the box. Read more
This cooler has very, very strange behavior that I really can't consistently place. To be more specific, but perhaps more abstract, it operates in what I like to call the "cooling boomerang." Now, what is this cooling boomerang? Well, the diminishing returns are obvious pretty quickly: - You turn on the cooler, watch the temperature drop a few degrees, feel the cool air... - Eventually (as it's a swamp cooler), the humidity balances and no more cooling is really done. Now, you'd expect it to stay there, at that temperature, if you simply left it on. This, however, is not the case. If you leave the cooler on after reaching this point of cooling depreciation, it actually begins to get warmer again. I can't explain exactly why—perhaps it's the power consumption or the lack of outside ventilation—but it's a very common pattern I see when using this. It's not as though the ice packs have melted so quickly; it's just that they will always rebound regardless of efficacy. That said, it's quite nice for cooling down quickly on a hot day or in a hot room. It's far more energy efficient than cranking the A/C, and if you sit in front of the fan, the temperature of the room hardly matters at all—since it will always blow cold air with an ice pack in the tank. At that point, though, a regular fan with an ice pack set behind it may be just as effective. If you're in a dry climate, this will likely work significantly better for you than for me. I am in Illinois, with rain showering often, summers as humid as ever, and without proper indoor ventilation or dry air to relieve the well-saturated indoor air after some time running, it just doesn't work as well as I would have liked. It does not work as described. Horrible unit. I feel no relief in my small room anymore than a fan would give. Read more
Very nice! My garage doesn’t have windows, so traditional window AC units were a no-go—and let’s be real, trying to do anything out there during Florida summer without AC? Not happening. This little powerhouse solved that. It’s compact, easy to roll around, and doesn’t need any complicated setup. Just plug it in, toss in some water and those nifty pre-filled ice packs, and you’re good to go. I like that it doesn’t need to vent through a window—huge bonus for weird garage setups like mine. The remote is handy, the tank lasts a decent chunk of time, and it really does take the edge off the heat. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting miracles, but this cooler makes it possible to get work done without melting. Totally worth it for the garage, workshop, or anywhere else you're trying to beat the swampy heat without installing a full AC system. Read more
