Ordered the wool 3 hole ski mask for work since I have to wear FR and wool is naturally fire resistant. The tag says it is definitely not wool. Already tossed the bage so I can't return it. I wish I could give it zero stars since it's rather expensive for what it actually is. Read more

I live in an area where the winters can get cold. I saw this balaclava and asked Amazon to review it. The webpage says this is made of merino wool. But on the same page it says, “Quality polyester, breathable.” There is nothing on the hat or the materials it comes with to indicate the composition of the fabric. There is an inside label that says to keep the hat away from fire. I am not an expert, but I don’t think there is much wool in this hat. I reached this conclusion based on several things. First, I asked my wife what material she thought it was. She looked at it and concluded polyester, which I agree with. Second, I got the hat wet for several minutes and then I smelled it. There was not the odor that wool gives off when wet (none whatsoever). I have a merino wool shirt. When you get that wet it smells a little like a wet dog. Third, the inside label says to keep it away from fire. You get this kind of warning from polyester materials, not wool. Finally, the web page says it’s polyester and breathable. Because I don’t think it is merino wool, or if there is it’s not very much, I took off one star. I really like this balaclava. It is a little bulky, but it is warm. I got the one that only has one hole. It stretches out enough that I can get my nose comfortably out of it. I wear glasses and I could fit them on the outside (a little loose), or on the inside (a little tight). Unless I put the opening down below my chin, I had a problem with fog on my glasses.
